Another Loyal Bush Buddy Nominated For Supreme Court

President Bush nominated White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court Monday. And is it no surprise that Harriet Miers is a very loyal Bush friend & a past personal lawyer to him? She is a member of a small band of loyalists that followed Bush from Texas & once served as council for his gubernatorial campaigns, as well as having been involved in the litigation effort in Bush vs. Gore. Miers served as the president's Staff Secretary, reviewing any & every piece of paper that came across his desk (she probably knows many dirty little secrets!).
Although Bush feels she is qualified for the Supreme Court, I, and many others, find the fact that he selected a loyal political ally with no judicial experience, rather stinky.
But it gets better, trust me. During Bush's first term as governer, information turned up by Harriet Miers persuaded a local judge to excuse Bush from jury duty, a civic task that would have forced him to come clean about his 1976 arrest for drunk driving in Maine. We all found out about that during Bush's 2000 presidential campaign.
It gets even better than that! Miers contributed money to Bush when he first ran for president in 2000, as well as $ 5,000 she gave to the Bush-Cheney Recount Fund after the post-election fight that sealed his win over Gore.
And even better yet... State records show Miers was paid $ 19,000 by the Bush gobernatorial campaign. She identified a problem- rumors that Bush had help from his daddy in getting into the National Guard back in 1968. Ben Barnes, a Texas Democrat & former speaker of the house, told friends he used his influence to get The Shrub a Guard spot after reviewing a request from Texas oilman Sid Adger. Both Bush Sr. & Bush Jr. deny seeking any help from Barnes or Adger.
Around the same time this was going on Miers was also the Bush-named chair of the scandal-plagued Texas Lottery Commission. A big issue before Miers & the commission was whether to retain lottery operator, Gtech, which was invloved in a bribery scandal. Ben Barnes was Gtech's main lobbyist in Texas, he was the one who had dish on how Bush got into the National Guard & avoided Vietnam. Barnes was fired from Gtech in 1997, but recieved a severance pay of a whopping $23 million! The suit involving Barnes was brought by former Texas lottery director Lawrence Littwin, who was fired by Harriet Miers in Oct 97 after 5 months on the job. It contends that Gtech Corp, which runs the state lottery & employed Barnes as a lobbyist for more than $3 million a year, was responsible for Littwin's dismissal
In exchange for Barnes silence about Bush's entry into the National Guard, Gtech was allowed to keep the lottery contract.
Man, this reaks! This woman was instrumental in burying & hiding the truth! It's no wonder Bush is rewarding her by nominating her to the Supreme Court!
It seems that Bush will appoint his friends & loyal followers to any job with an opening. Lottery Commission, City Council, Deputy Chief of Staff--FEMA Director! It's as if Bush says to them, " Hmmmm, where can I put ya? Oh, there's an opening as FEMA Director, want that? No experience? No problem!--We can get around that, the American people are fools that never pay attention!"
----Well, I'm paying attention George, & I know quite a few others are as well.
Feel free to comment on this stinky shit!!
