Bush Wants $7.1 Billion Used To Stockpile Bird Flu Vaccine-Rumsfeld's Lovin' The Profits!

Bush has outlined a strategy, or as HE would say--'strategery', that would cost $ 7.1 Billion buckaroo's! $ 1.2 billion would go straight to the goverment to buy enough doses od the "vaccine" for bird flu tp protect 20 million Americans, the administration wants enough for military personnel & front-line emergency personnel. $ 1 billion would go to stockpile more anti-viral drugs that lessen the severity of flu symptoms. $ 2.8 billion would go to speed the development of vaccines as new strains emerge, a process that now takes months. And finally, $ 583 million would go to states & local goverments to prepare emergency plans to respond to an outbreak.

So basically the big pharmaceutical companys, as well as their stockholders, will profit like there's no tomorrow!

Among the beneficiaries of the run on Tamiflu is Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He owns at least $ 5 million of the stock, which has jumped from $ 35 in April to $ 47. Former Secretary of State George Shultz, who is on Gilead's board, has sold more than $7 million worth of Gilead in 2005!

As the bird flu issue heated up, Rumsfeld, according to a senior Pentagon official, considered unloading his entire Gilead stake to avoid any conflicts of interest. He sought advice from the Dept. of Justice, among others, but they didn't offer him an opinion. So Rumsfeld consulted a private securities lawyer who advised him to hold on to that gold. And holding on to it has paid off handsomely, it's made him one of the wealthiest members of the Bush cabinet, at least $ 1 million richer!

Interest goes beyond Wall Street. Already drugstores are finding the demand for the drug contagious. Making Tamiflu is not easy. The drug is derived from the pods of Chinese star anise plants in a year long process that's expensive & dangerous--at one stage the stuff is highly explosive!

In asking Congress for money to buy the vaccine, Bush said the vaccine " would not be a perfect match to the pandemic flu because the pandemic strain would probably differ somewhat from the avain flu virus it grew from."

So why then spend Billions upon Billions of dollars on buying it? Because the 'Cha-Ching' effect in Washington outweighs the commom sense effect. As I keep saying, this bird flu has been blown out of proportion in order to instill fear in American citizens, as well as to fill the pockets of cronies in Washington who will profit greatly from their pharmaceutical stock piles , which increases the more propaganda spews from Bush's lips.
