Pentagon Admits To Using White Phosphorus In Iraq

Pentagon officials say that white phosphorus WAS used as a weapon against insurgent strongholds during the battle of Fallujah last November, but deny the report that it was used against civilians. Anyone in their right mind knows that during a war, especially this one, there have & will be innocent civilians hurt and killed. And in this Iraq war, American soldiers themselves have openly said that they considered teenage Iraqi boys enemys, due to the young age of some insurgents. Since the insurgents look like civilians a lot of the time, & American soldiers are not fighting against an organized army with uniforms, etc-- it is probable MANY civilians, including women & children (See picture ) will be injured or killed. All the more reason not to use white phosphorus, which is internationally banned & causes extreme harm or death to anyone within a radius of 150 meters.
Lt.Col. Barry Venable, a Pentagon spokesman, said that while white phosphorus is most frequently used to mark targets or obscure a position, it was used at times in Fallujah as an incendiary weapon against enemy combatants.
Of course not until the Italian State TV, Rai broadcast a documentary of the U.S. military's use of WP, & the March-April 2005 edition of the Army's Field Artillery magazine, in which veterens of the Fallujah fight spelled out their use of WP & other weapons, THEN the Pentagon admits to it! Otherwise, they would have kept denying it.
In the Army's Field Artillery magazine, U.S. military said, "WP proved to be an effective and versatile munition. We used it for screening missions at two breeches, and later in the fight, as a potent psychological weapon against the insugents in trench lines and spider holes when we could not get effects on them with HE (high explosives) munitions." " We fired 'Shake and Bake' missions at the insurgents, using WP to flush them out and HE to take them out."
"Shake and Bake"??? SICK. Used WP as a "potent psychological weapon"???
Remember, the State Dept. first said that U.S. troops only used WP by firing into the air to "illuminate enemy positions at night".
Now the truth is starting to come out.
And in other news, The Israel Defense Forces have been using phosphorus shells in training exercises, a practice forbidden near civilian areas under international law. Several weeks ago, 4 Bedouin goatherders were badly hurt by the detonation of an unexploded phosphorus shell found near their home (civilian area) in the South Hebron Hills. Fadal Abu Aram, just 17, died of his injuries, and a 12 year old is still in serious condition at his family's shack in Carmel. 2 more young boys were injured as well.
The Israel Defense Force says, " This was an unfortunate incident.Phosphorus shells are used soley in training." " Unfortunate"?? No kidding!
Our goverment used chemical weapons in Iraq. S-I-C-K!
