Video Evidence Shows NYPD Covert Surveillance of a....Bicycle Rally!!

Last Thursday, the New York Times published an article revealing that it had obtained videotapes showing the NYPD conducting surveillance by planting undercover officers to secretly infiltrate & monitor anti-war protests, bike rallies, & even a vigil for a dead cyclist! The footage that the New York Times obtained shows officers holding protest signs, carrying flowers with mourners, riding bikes, & videotaping people at the events.
The footage shows at least 10 undercover cops taking part in 7 public gatherings since the Republican National Convention in Aug, 2004.
The Times published an editorial the day after the story ran saying, " it is a sad day when a police force generally known for it's professionalism is caught using underhanded tactics to spy on and even distort political protests and mass rallies."
In the case of the Critical Mass bike rally, and the party following, police 'dressed up' like protest participants, held protest signs, videotaped protesters, staging fake arrests of undercover cops pretending to protest, breaking up a peaceful party of people dancing, one undercover female officer ( looks kinda like a man,but pretty sure is female!) ruffing up a woman with a video camera-injuring her wrist while yanking the camera out of her hands, cops coming in with an electric saw to cut bicycles off racks & then taking them away, etc, etc.
The bust was totally ridiculous, over the top, & was clearly an attempt to pacify peaceful protesters, as well as make them feel powerless, abused, & discriminated against for no good reason.
Democracy Now! has the video of these cops wasting everyone's time & taxpayer dollars to bust up a protest/party/bike ride rally of peaceful people doing nothing illegal. Don't these pigs have anything better to do then bring in half the department to bust up a bicycle rally?!
I have an idea! How about using all that time, all those resources, & all that taxpayer money to hunt & harass the REAL terrorists! Now that I'd support! What, are the police afraid of bicycles? I don't think a bicycle can be flown into the World Trade Center & cause mass casualties, do you? Bicycles= the new instrument of terror!

Bush Begs Newspaper Editors To Stop Embarrassing Him (although he does a damn good job of that himself!)

Bush has been summoning newspaper editors and holding meetings lately in an effort to prevent the publication of some of the stories that he finds damaging to national security, but they seem to damage Bush's image rather than national security.
Meetings with the editors of the Washington Post & New York Times were confirmed by sources who have been briefed on them, but are not authorized to comment because both sides have agreed to keep the meetings off the record.
After Bush's meetings with the NY Times executives, which was first reported by Newsweek, Bush called the paper's piece on domestic spying "shameful". Meanwhile, some liberals attacked the paper for holding out on the story for more than a year after earlier meetings.
Bush's efforts have failed, but the meetings at the White House with the executive editors of these 2 major newspapers is not only rare, but is a clear indication how serious & upset Bush is about the recent reportings that are blowing the cover off his questionable anti-terror tactics.

Student Being Visited By Feds Turns Out To Be A Hoax!

Stupid punk kid! Turns out he made the whole thing up to his professor! After changing the story a bit, he was caught!
This is just a disclaimer for the previous post. Although this kid was an immature ass, with the recent goings-on in the Bush administration, it isn't really that far off. So I can see how we all fell for it!

Feds Pay A Little "Visit" To Student

2 months ago, federal agents payed a little visit to a senior at U. Mass. Dartmouth. The student, who was trying to complete a research paper on Communism for Professor Pontbriand's class on fascism & totalitarianism, filled out a form for the request of a copy of Mao Tse-Tung's book "The Little Red Book" through the school's library loan program. On the form he had to include his name, address, phone number, & social security number.
The student was later visited at his parent's home in New Bedford by 2 agents of the Department of Homeland Security.
The student's professor said the student was told by the agents that the book is on a "watch list", & that his background, which included a lot of time overseas, triggered them to investigate the student further.
"I told my students to go to the direct source, and so he asked for the official Peking version of the book. Apparently, the Department of Homeland Security is monitoring inter-library loans, because that's what triggered the visit, as I understand it", said Professor Pontbriand.
"The Little Red Book" is a collection of quotations & speech excerpts from Chinese leader Mao Tse-Tung. In the 50's & 60's during the Cultural Revolution in China, it was required reading. Although there are abridged versions available, the student asked for a version translated directly from the original book.
The student told Prof. Pontbriand & Dr. Williams that the Department of Homeland Security agents brought the book with them, but did not leave it with the student.
Dr. Williams said in his research he regularly contacts people in Afghanistan, Chechnya, & other Muslim hot spots & suspects that some of his calls are monitored. He had been planning to offer a course on terrorism next semester, but is now reconsidering because it might put his students at risk.

This makes me fucking sick! Now students in this country cannot even check out a book form their school library without federal agents tracking them down & paying them a little "visit"! What kind of freedom is that, to be in fear to do research on a school paper? Now American students have to be compromised because of the paranoid fear this goverment has of " terrorism"! Teachers are now in fear to teach their students about ALL history, which does include historical figures such as Mao Tse-Tung. Our tax dollars are going to pay for this useless waste of time-when they could be out catching REAL terrorists! Bullshit. It's gone too far. When the United States goverment compromises the education of American students by denying them access to books relating to the subject they are writing papers for school on, I'd say it's gone too far.
Orwell was a fucking Nostradamus! Next, we'll be paid a visit by the feds for THINKING about any subject remotely related to terrorism.
I am appalled, sickened, disappointed, outraged, disgusted, & ashamed of the United States goverment. If you are not feeling any one of the above emotions, your either a.) not human, or b.) not fucking paying attention!!!

Bush Defends Spying On U.S. Public

Today, Bush unapologetically defended his administrations right to conduct secret spying on people within the United States.
Bush ditched his version of his weekly radio address that he had previously taped on the elections in Iraq, and instead delivered a live speech from the White House's Roosevelt Room. Bush seemed angry in the 8 minute address, and made clear that he has no intention of stopping his authorization of the monitoring activities. Bush added that whoever revealed the program to the media acted improperly and illegally. He said his authority came from his constitutional powers as commander in chief, and that he has personally signed off on reauthorizations more than 30 times.
James Bamford, author of 2 books on the NSA said, " I didnt hear him specify any legal right, except his right as president, which in a democracy dosent make sense. Today, what Bush said is he went around the law, which is a violation of the law- which is illegal."
Susan Low Bloch, a professor of constitutional law @ Georgetown University Law Center, said the president needs authorization from Congress for this kind of activity- or risk adverse rulings from the Supreme Court.
Senator Russell Feingold said, " I tell you, he's President Bush, not King George Bush. This is not the system of goverment we have and that we fought for."
And Senator Patrick Leahy added, " The Bush administration seems to belive it is above the law."
Bush is out of line, and out of control! He is a dictator in the making, and obviously has issues with power. I hope the American people are paying attention now.

Senate Rejects Patriot Act Extension!!

Victory!!! In a defeat that had to hurt Bush, Senate Democrats blocked passage of a new Patriot Act that threatened the constitutional liberties of innocent Americans.
The USA Patriot Act was due to expire at the end of this year, and was up for renewal. Nearly all Senate Democrats backed a filibuster, as well as a handful of Republicans. The Senate then voted 52-47 to advance a House-passed bill to a final vote, 8 short of the 60 needed to overcome the filibuster.
Sen. Russell Feingold said, " We can come together to give the goverment the tools it needs to fight terrorism and protect the rights and freedoms of innocent citizens." He argued that provisions permitting goverment access to confidential personal data lacked safeguards to protect the innocent.
The problem with the Patriot Act extension was that it gave powers to law enforcement agencies to gain access to a shitload of personal data, including library & medical records, in secret, as part of investigations into "terrorist" activity.
The bill also included a 4 year extension of the goverment's ability to conduct roving wiretaps, which may involve multiple phones- & continued the authority to wiretap "lone wolf" terrorists who may operate on their own, without control from a foreign agent.
Another provision, applied to all criminal cases, gives the goverment a whole 30 days to provide notice that it has served a search warrant.
During the debate, several Democrats pointed out the report that Bush had secretly authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on people inside the U.S. without first securing permission from the courts.
No Republican defended the reported practice, & the bills main Republican supporter even said, " There is no doubt that this is inappropriate", said Arlen Specter.
This was a huge victory to all Americans! The Bush administration & the Patriot Act severely threatens our civil liberties & privacy rights. My favorite thing said about this came form Sen. Edward Kennedy, " They are saying,'Trust us, we are following the law'. Give me a break. Across the country and across the political spectrum, no one is buying it anymore. There is no accountability. There is no oversight...This is Big Brother run amok."
--Amen to that Senator Kennedy!

Christine Rudy Found Dead

The human remains found last week have been positively identified as those of missing pregnant woman, Christine Rudy. The cause of death has been ruled a homocide. She disappeared last month at 6 months pregnant. Her husband had told police he left her on the side of the road in the cold, snow. I wish Christine and her family peace, as well as justice.

If You Ever Attend A Protest Or Meeting---Read This!

A secret 400-page Defense Department document obtained by NBC News reveals how the U.S. military has stepped up it's intelligence collection inside the country since 9/11, to include the monitoring of peaceful anti-war & counter-military recruitment groups.
A year ago, at a Quaker Meeting House in Florida, a small group of activists met to plan a protest of military recruiting at local high schools. What they didn't know was that their little meeting had the attention of the U.S. military. The Defense Department document lists the Florida meeting as a "threat", and one of more than 1,500 "suspicious incidents" across the country over a 10 month period.
Evy Grachow, a member of the Florida group called The Truth Project said, " This peaceful, educationally oriented group being a threat is incredible." Another member, Rich Hersh said, " This is incredible. It's an example of paranoia by our goverment. We're not doing anything illegal!"
The Department of Defense database obtained by NBC News includes about 48 anti-war meetings or protests, including some that have taken place far away from any military installation, post, or recruitment center. One "incident" in the database was a large anti-war protest here in Los Angeles at Hollywood & Vine streets last March. Another incident mentioned a planned protest against military recruiters last December in Boston, as well as a planned protest last April at 'McDonald's National Salute To America's Heroe's--a military air & sea show in Florida. This protest was deemed not to be a credible threat & a column in the database concludes: " U.S. group exercising constitutional rights". 243 other incidents in the database were discounted because they had no connection to the DOD--yet they all still remain in the database.
The DOD has strict guidlines adopted in Dec '82, that limit the extent to which they can collect data & retain information on U.S. citizens. Still, the DOD database includes at least 20 references to U.S. citizens or U.S. people. One DOD briefing document stamped "Secret" says: " We have noticed increased communication and encouragement between protest groups using the internet, but no "significant connection" between incidents, such as "reoccuring instigators at protests" or " vehicle descriptions".
NBC News military analyst Bill Arkin said, " It means that they're actually collecting information about who's at these protests, the descriptions of vehicles at those protests. On the domestic level, this is unprecedented. I think it's the beginning of enormous problems and enormous mischief for the military."
George Lotz, a 30 yr career DOD official & former U.S. Air Force Colonol said, " Somebody needs to be monitoring to make sure they are just not going crazy and reporting things on U.S. citizens without any kind of reasoning or rationale."
Some Pentagon observers worry that in the effort to thwart another 9/11, the military is collecting too much data, undermining it's own analysis efforts by forcing analysts to wade through mountains of rubble to obtain potentially key little nuggets of intell.
Bert Tussing, director of Homeland Defense & Security Issues at the U.S. Army War College & former Marine says, " there is very little that could justify the collection of domestic intelligence by the U.S. military. If we start going down this slippery slope it would be too easy to go back to a place we never want to see again!"
The Defense Dept. refused to comment.
This is so scary on so many different levels. Not only is the Defense Dept. wasting valuable time and resources on "watching" peaceful protests/people, but this severely compromises the Constitution and the right to free speech & to protest against the goverment. It's very important to spread this information to all your friends/family who attend protests/meetings. The goverment is watching you & your vehicles at these protests. Take appropriate measures to protect yourself. For the 'Police State' has begun. And I would like to take this opprotunity to tell the Defense Department (cuz' I'm sure they're watching) to FUCK OFF! :)

Bush Accepts Responsibility For Going To War W/ Faulty Intel

The President Chimp said today that he accepts responsibility for going to war with faulty intelligence, but in the same breath, firmly defended the decision. " It's true that much of the intelligence was wrong. As president I am responsible for the decision to go into Iraq. And I'm also responsible for fixing what went wrong by reforming our intelligence capabilities. And we're doing just that." He later went on to say, " We are in Iraq today because our goal has always been more than the removal of a brutal dictator. It is to leave a free and democratic Iraq in his place."
Yeah, it's always been alot more than the removal of a brutal dictator--OIL!, Middle East domination! If Bush really wanted to be truthful with the American public he would have added those reasons as well.
Polls have showed that people feel the United States is losing ground in reducing civilian casualties in Iraq. Violence in Iraq has shown no signs of waning, and most Americans are unhappy with Bush's handling of the war.
Bush stated, " Victory will be achieved by meeting certain objectives: when the terrorists and Saddamists can no longer threaten Iraq's democracy, when the Iraqi security forces can protect their own people, and when Iraq is not a safe haven for terrorists to plot attacks against our country, these objectives, not timelines set by politicians in Washington, will drive our force levels in Iraq."
First of all, the "terrorists" & "Saddamists" are threatening Iraq's democracy because it was brutally forced upon them by United States troops bombing and shooting anyone who disagreed. This country did not plea nor beg nor ask us to invade them & turn their country "democratic". Bush has always wanted to invade Iraq & take out Saddam. He wanted to please his daddy, who never finished the job. The Sept 11th attacks were just an excuse he used to fullfill his dreams & aspirations for Iraq. There was never any links between Al-Qaeda (who attacked us 9/11) and Iraq. That has not only been proven, but Bush now is slowwwwly letting himself release those words from his mouth. Al-Qaeda is not Iraq. If anything, Afghanistan is. The real target after 9/11 should have been Afghanistan. Bush used a tragedy to fullfill his wants of Iraqi oil, securing a Middle East stronghold & taking out Saddam--all for very personal reasons. He is nothing but a Neo-Con who thinks that he can turn any country "democratic" by using extreme force & bravado. Country's do not go to war because they feel that another country's leader is a "brutal dictator"--there are other means of either removing them from power, or investigating--by using our intelligence or NATO or inspectors. But Bush kicked them out before they could conclude their work. I guess they weren't finding any weapons of mass destruction fast enough for Bush--for there were none.
And Bush has yet to catch Bin-Ladin. You remember him, right? The person behind the 9/11 attacks. The one that should be in the same predicament Saddam is in right now. Bush is ass-backwards, & the fact that he cannot catch Bim-Ladin & bring him to justice is proof. He's used all his resources to attack a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11!
It saddens me that all those U.S. troops in Iraq have died for Bush's personal mission, & that it had nothing to do with the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
The president has his head up his own ass!

United States Warns Canada Not To Bash U.S.

I say...Bash away!! But United States Ambassador, David Wilkins seems to disagree.
Today, The United States butted it's head into Canada's election campaign, warning politicians not to bash Washington in their bid to win voter support on January 23rd.
U.S. Ambassador Wilkins said, " Canada never has to tear the United States down to build itself up." " It may be smart election politics to thump your chest and constantly criticize your friend and your No. 1 trading partner. But it's a slippery slope and all of us should hope it dosen't have a long term impact on our relationship."
Although Wilkins did not specify to whom his remarks referred to, they appear aimed at Liberal Prime Minister Paul Martin, who has attacked the United States over a bilateral dispute over softwood lumber exports. Last week Martin criticized the Bush administration for it's half-assed approach on climate change, saying that Washington should listen to the "global conscience" on the enviroment.
Wilkins response was, " I would respectfully submit to you that when it comes to a 'global conscience' the United States is walking the walk."
BULLSHIT! Canada has every right to bash the hell outta the Bush regime for it's lackluster approach to global warming and the enviroment as a whole! (see my previous post about Global Warming & Bush/Blairs lack of care) Other countries do have a right to talk shit about the United States when it comes to the enviroment and global warming...Why, you ask? Because the world & the enviroment belongs to us all, and if there happens to be a country whose President has made it obvious he could give a flying fuck about our enviroment, then well , bash away. We can't allow one ignorant idiot to screw over the world without at least giving him hell for it, ya know? Global warming is a real issue that needs attention. Just because Bush cannot physically see or feel the results right this minute, does not mean they do not exisit, or won't become more of an issue in years to come.
So to all my Canadian readers & friends....Bash away!!!!! I certainly won't be offended.

" It's Just A Goddamned Piece Of Paper!"

It's been reported recently that Bush believes that the Constitution of the United States (yeah, the same one he swore upon protecting) is, and I quote, " just a goddamned piece of paper!" Doug Thompson of the Capitol Hill Blue writes, " Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act. GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Council Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court."
Thompson reported the following exchange:
" I don't give a goddamn", Bush retorted. " I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."
"Mr. President", one aide in the meeting said", " There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."
"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face", Bush screamed back. " It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"
Thompson claims to have spoken to , " three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution ' a goddamned piece of paper'. For Doug Thompson's article in Capitol Hill Blue, http://capitolhillblue.comIf this information is correct, we have a serious problem on our hands. A United States President who thinks the Constitution is just a 'piece of paper'?? This would only provide further proof to me that Bush is determined to establish a 'police state' where the U.S. goverment controls all, and runs it for their own gain.
Why hasn't the corporate media taken note of this? Infowars has a great answer, " the corporate media is owned by the same "free trade" (unhindered depredation) marauders and amoral charlatan neolibs that own the goverment and just about every whore (politician) in Congress."
Remember back in 2000, when Bush "joked" about how dictatorship would be fine just so long as he was the dictator? He wasn't joking. Wake Up America!

Patriot Act Extended

On Thursday, House & Senate negotiators reached an agreement to extend the USA Patriot Act before it expires at the end of the month.
Even though resolutions have been passed against the Patriot Act in 43 states & 380 communities, which can all be found at the ACLU's website , the act will be extended.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter announced they had reached an agreement that would extend for 4 years two of the Patriot Act's most controversial provisions--Permitting secret warrants for books, records, & other items for businesses, hospitals, & libraries--Plus authorizing roving wiretaps.
Extended for 4 years are also standards for monitoring "lone wolf" terrorists who may be operating independant of a foreign agent or power.
The Neo-Cons have been attempting to defend the Patriot Act by saying that the use of the Patriot Act has never been abused or used against American citizens.
Ohhh reallllly?? Isn't Section 802 of the Patriot Act specifically aimed at U.S. citizens & announces any crime as "domestic terrorism"? Also, the Washington Times has some examples.
Misuse of the Patriot Act:

--A convenience store shopkeeper was rounded up in a post-9/11/01 sweep that targeted Muslim immigrants. He is married to a naturalized U.S. citizen with kids born in the U.S.

--The Patriot Act used to obtain search warrants against doctors & scientists who had been warning about the threat of bioterrorism in the U.S.

--A webmaster was held at the Federal Corrections Institute in Tucson under the Patriot Act.

--FBI used Patriot Act to obtain financial information about key figures in a political corruption probe centured on a strip club in Las Vegas.

--A Denver photographer was arrested while taking pictures in Denver during V.P. Cheney's visit. Was physically assulted by police.

--A 12 year old boy researches for a school paper on the Bay Bridge, the Joint Terrorist Task Force shows up at boy's headmaster's office.

--Patriot Act used to harass website activist Bev Harris & told not to reveal to anyone she & her website are being investigated under the Patriot Act.

--Artists served subpoenas to appear before federal grand jury that will consider bioterrorism charges against a professor who's art involved use of biology equipment.

--2 students in Oakland were interrogated by the Secret Service after they made remarks about President Bush during a class discussion on the Iraq War. The teacher called the Secret Service & when they arrived the students asked if they could remain silent & get legal council, Secret Service replied, "We own you, you dont have any legal rights." See more on this story at

The Patriot Act threatens the rights guaranteed to American citizens in the 4th Amendment, which states that, " the right of the people to be "secure in their persons, houses, paper, & effects against unreasonable searches & seizures, shall not be violated, & no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, & particularly describing the place to be searched & the persons or things to be seized."
The USA Patriot Act pisses all over the 4th Amendment. The United States goverment wants us to be afraid to speak our minds in fear of investigation, arrest, or jail. They have obtained too much power and, "Absolute power corrupts absolutley."

A beautiful weekend in sunny, Southern California! I hear there's lots of snow & nasty weather elsewhere in the U.S., but we wouldn't know it over here! (notice the surfers) (crappy cell phone pic dosen't do it justice!)

Quick, Condi's Coming...Move The Prisoners!

ABC news has reported that United States officials scrambled like hell to move detainees, all top Al-Qaeda suspects, from 2 secret CIA prisons in Romania & Poland, before U.S. Secretary of State Condi Rice's arrival in Romania Tuesday.
ABC news quoted current, as well as former CIA officers, speaking anonymously, as saying the suspects were now in a new CIA facility in the North African desert.
According to ABC's website, "All but one of these 11 high-value Al-Qaeda prisoners were subjected to the harshest interrogation techniques in the CIA's secret arsenal."
Human Rights Watch has said that none of these suspects have been formally charged with a crime.
The reports of secret CIA interrogation centers in Europe & transport flights for terrorist suspects across the world have sparked a huge uproar in Europe. U.S. officials have refused to confirm or deny the existence of these prisons.

On a similar note, a German man has filed a lawsuit yesterday claiming he was held captive & tortured by U.S goverment agents after mistakenly indentified as an associate of the 9/11 highjackers.
Khaled El-Masri said he was arrested while trying to enter Macedonia for a holiday trip & was then flown to Afghanistan. During 5 months in captivity he was subjected to " torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment."
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the U.S. has acknowledged making a mistake in the man's arrest. She spoke after meeting with Condi Rice, who later refused to discuss or comment on the case with reporters.
The lawsuit names former CIA Director George Tenet as the main defendant. In addition to torture, El-Masri claims his due process rights were violated & was subjected to prolonged, arbitrary detention. He's seeking damages of at least $75,000.
El-Masri said in a statement, " I am asking the American goverment to admit it's mistakes and to apologize for my treatment. Throughout my time in the prison, I asked to be brought before a court, but was refused. Now I am hoping that an American court will say very clearly that what happened to me was illegal and cannot be done to others."
El-Masri was born in Kuwait & moved to Germany in 1985. He is the married father of 5 children. On New Year's Eve 2003 he boarded a bus in is hometown of Neu-Ulm for a holiday in Macedonia. At the border he was stopped by Macedonian authorities & his passport was taken. He said he was detained by local authorities for 23 days & then handed over to what he believes was a team of CIA operatives. He was then flown to Afghanistan where he was subjected to abuse during his 4 months in captivity. In late May 2004 he was flown to Albania, then put on a plane back to Germany.
I am sure this is just the start of more people coming forward with claims of U.S. torture & wrongful inprisonment. This man was held for 5 months in a country far away from his, without any legal representation, & denied access before a court. If the CIA is so "intelligent", how is it that they held him for 5 long months before figuring out they had the wrong guy? Do officials in the United States THINK anymore, or do they primarily rely on gun-ho bravado style action before any real investigation? I understand, to some degree, that many in goverment are being overly-cautious since 9/11, but come on!! This is the Central INTELLIGENCE Agency we're talking about! There are so many better ways to "investigate" a person, rather than just scoop up any arab man & fly him to an undisclosed location in a country far away, held & tortured for 5 months, denied legal representation, without any chance to prove his innocence & that he is not a "terrorist" nor associated with any.
Are we just a hop-skip-and a jump away from arab concentration-style camps? I expect better from my country.

O.C."Man" Convicted In Hate Crime Murder

I was reading in "IN Magazine", the LGBT Los Angeles-based magazine, the other day & came across a story that was so sad & disgusting I couldn't stop thinking about it. Part of my childhood was spent in Orange County, California, so I am very familiar with not only the location, but the O.C. mentality as well.
On Friday, Novemember 18th, an Orange County jury found Gregory Michael Pisarcik guilty of 1st degree murder for the savage killing of Narciso Leggs Jr., a retired immigration agent. Leggs was a 53 year old Vietnam War veteren who had won accolades during his career as an undercover INS agent.
Leggs met the evil Pisarcik at Main Street Bar in Laguna Beach, California one night in June 2002. Just to let people unfamiliar with Laguna Beach know, it is a huge O.C. gay mecca. The 2 went back to Leggs' Tustin apartment that night & was never seen alive again. His landlord called police after he noticed Leggs had been missing for a few days.
Leggs was found dead June 29,2002. His head was smashed with a full champagne bottle causing deep gashes on the top & back of the head. His hands were tied from behind with a sock & his ears had been cut off with scissors! He had also been strangled & urinated on, & a large plastic flashlight shoved into his rectum. The phrase "Fags Die" was written on his body with a black marker.
The apartment was ransacked & Leggs' car & gun were missing. 25 year old Gregory Pisarcik was spotted driving the car in Ventura. He led police on a high speed chase across several freeways, firing the gun out the window. When the chase ended, he refused to come out of the car.
Pisarcik confessed to police that he had gone to Leggs' home to rob him, & that he hated homosexuals. While he was being transported to the Orange County Jail, he told a deputy, " Don't put me in with the homo's. I'm not a homo. That's why I killed him. I'm not a homo." He made other statements in custody making it clear he hated gay's & showed no remorse for the murder.
Pisarcik, orignally from New Jersey, lived in the Huntington Beach area & had many comvictions for theft & drug violations.
Pisarcik is scheduled to be sentenced Feb.3rd, 2006 & faces life in prison without the parole, where he will likely become a "homo" just like he was afraid of. What goes around comes around, buddy!
One of the main reasons a friend & I decided to start an Orange County chapter of Riot Grrrl in O.C. in the early 90's was not only due to us becoming tired of driving to L.A. for meetings, but because we witnessed so many hate crimes there. I can't tell you how many times us Riot Grrls stepped in to help out someone in Laguna being bashed for being gay or black. When I heard this story, I cringed remembering all those times & images I was faced with. There really needs to be tougher hate crime laws in this country to deter these types of disgusting, ignorant, evil people from hurting or killing others just because they love someone of the same sex, or they're a different color skin than them.

Ford Motor Company: Bends Over For Gay-Hating AFA

I'm sure you already have heard how the American Family Association announced a boycott against the Ford Motor Company because the company's record for supporting gay and lesbians, including gay marriage. The AFA put out an 'action alert' earlier this year that stated, " You are probably unaware that Ford Motor Company is a major supporter of the homosexual movement, including homosexual marriage....Giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to support homosexual groups, forcing managers to attend diversity training, sponsoring Gay Pride Parades, Ford leads the way."
They go on to urge a boycott of Ford until they stop their promotion "of the homosexual movement & homosexual marriage." They also went so far as to demand Ford stop providing benefits to the partners of its gay employees.
Ford has appeased these assholes demands in a secret meeting held last week. Ford has also pulled their gay ads from 2 publications, Out and Advocate.
What pussy's these jerks at Ford are! Ford has released a letter to it's gay & lesbian employee group. It stated, " Last week, we were joined by a Ford dealer representative in a meeting with the American Family Association...Following the meeting, the AFA announced that it was ending it's boycott of Ford Motor Company...Our latest discussion with the AFA cleaned up a lot of misunderstandings about Ford's policies and practices...We advised AFA that most of the ads were running outside North America or no longer running...We agreed to open a dialogue with the leadership of AFA..." For the entire letter AMERICAblog has the text .. The Ford executive who brokered the secret deal with the AFA gay-haters, was caught leading Bush's right-wing Supreme Court nominees. He held secret meetings out of Ford's own offices in support of Bush's nominees.
So what's the deal with Ford? They get caught for supporting gays by the religious nutjobs over at the AFA & then has a secret meeting with them, later to drop all ads in gay magazines, etc. Seems to me Ford is acting rather "gay" now by BENDING OVER for the AFA!

Walgreen's Co. Gets Shit For Sponsorship Of 'Gay Games'

The Walgreen's Co., based in Deerfield, Illinois, has become one of the biggest sponsors of the Gay Games, which is set to take place in Chicago in the summer of 2006. Last month Walgreen's pledged $ 100,000 in support of the Gay Games, alongside other large sponsors such as Q Television & PlanetOut, and Kraft Foods. Kraft pledged $ 25,000 to the Gay Games and recieved shit from the anti-gay Mississippi-based American Family Association.
In response to Walgreen's pledge, the Illinios Family Institute, a conservative Christian group based in Chicago, has threatened to boycott the Walgreen's chain of drugstores until the support is retracted. Walgreen's claims their support stems from the long-standing relationship the drugstore pharmacies have with HIV patients, whom they've been serving since the 80's.
The ignorant, asshole head of the Illinois Family Institue, Peter LaBarbera wrote a letter to the Walgreen's chairman saying, " This approach is deeply flawed because homosexual acts between men are a leading factor in the spread of AIDS. By using Walgreen's good name to lend legitimacy to the Gay Games, you are helping to mainstream sexual behavior that is causing gay men to die in the prime of their life."
Just to piss off the religious right, as well as to support a company that supports gays & lesbians, I will from now on shop at Walgreen's and urge family and friends to do the same.

How The Rest Of The World Views Us: Part 2

I had previously posted sentiments of people from around the world & their views of the United States & it's policy's. I gathered a few more recently from the internet & wanted to share them. Some are amusing, some are rude, most are dead-on correct. Copied exactly as is.

"Fuck off Americans: Don't like what you see...Do something..Your president is doing this to your country...DO SOMETHING!!! Get off your FAT ASS and DO SOMETHING! Look at your country ASSHOLE!! We are SICK of you trying to 'Americanize' the world and HATE you for trying to push YOUR version of what should be on everyone. GET OVER IT, YOUR COUNTRY SUCKS! No one is perfect, but you Americans are just PATHETIC! We are waiting for China to call in the TRILLION you owe them, you will default and WWIII will start. WE will not help you! YOU brought this on, YOU deal with the "consumer public" YOU made. Go buy more shit from WalMart! CONSUME CONSUME CONSUME! (Amsterdam,Netherlands)

" Look at who you elected! A cokehead, drunk, AWOL coward, douchebag! What did he give you?? 180 tons of dead American G.I.'s!" (Barcelona,Spain)

" You must be so proud of a coward killing for oil." (followed by picures of Bush with a gun to his head, a spoof on the movie 'A Beautiful Mind', & Bush as spokesman for Jack Daniels.) (Frankfurt,Germany)

"America is not free. American's don't know freedom. Americans know fear--and so America goes to war. You will continue to imprison or destroy anyone who disagrees, as long as you fear facing the question of being wrong." (Paris,France)

Do you feel the love?? This is the result of George Bush's policy's, actions, and sometimes inactions. I would like to take this opprotunity to thank George W. Bush for making the United States THE most hated country on the face of the earth! His ass-backwards approach to the "War on Terror" has placed a huge bullseye on every Americans head, and inturn made our country less safe.

10,000+ March In 33 Countries: Are Bush & Blair Listening?

This past weekend, more than 100,000 people marched in 33 countries to express concern for the enviroment in the 1st world-wide protest to press for action to combat global warming.
The marches were timed to put pressure on the most important international climate change negotiations since the Kyoto Protocol agreement 8 years ago. It took place against a background of new research showing that the heating of the planet is seriously affecting the world sooner than the scientists predicted.
The protests were primarily directed at our most loveable George W. Bush, who has been trying to sabotage the protocol, as well as ruling out even talking about setting targets for reducing the pollution that causes global warming. The head of the U.S. delegation to the negotiations, Harlan Watson said, " The United States is opposed to any such discussions."
The protests were also aimed at Tony Blair. 10,000 demonstrators carrying banners linking Bush & Tony Blair as "climate criminals", took a special detour to hand in a letter at No. 10 Downing Street. The protesters demanded that Britain do much more to cut it's own pollution. Emissions of carbon dioxide have risen since Labour took power in 1997.
The United States & Australia are the only western industrialized nations not to have ratified Kyoto. Scientists agree that rich countries have to reduce their emissions by a massive 80% by 2050, if there is to be any hope of stopping climate changes escalating out of control.
This has yet to make an impact on the Bush administration. The director of the International Institute of Enviroment & Development, Camilla Toulmin said, " In the case of the current U.S. administration we may have to give up ever hoping for a flicker of intelligence on climate change. The pattern of interests based on oil and gas seems closely knit into an armour-plated defense of U.S. policy."
Scary facts:
**New research has found that levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere--the main cause of global warming--are higher than that at anytime in the past 625,000 years!! This year is expected to be the warmest ever recorded; 1998 was the hottest so far, but the past 3 years currently occupy the next 3 places.

** The level of the world's seas & oceans is rising twice as fast as in the past.

**Areas such as the western U.S., which depends on mountain snows for their water, are running short as less snow falls.

**Sealife & birdlife have declined catastrophically this year along America's north-west Pacific Coast, after a similar meltdown in the North Sea.

** Corals on the Great Barrier Reef are bleaching out & dying as sea temperatures rise & scientists fear that the whole reef may perish by 2050.

I know it's real easy to put the enviroment on the back burner so to speak, especially when ignornant people like Bush aren't really experiencing the results of neglecting it. But the next generations to come will experience it, if they even have a chance to. It is our job to take care of this planet, it's the only fucking one we got! Our next president needs to put the enviroment on the top of his or her list.

The 'Not So Friendly Sky's': 300 CIA Flights Landed In Europe

The Guardian, a UK daily, has reported that over 300 flights by the United States CIA have landed at European airports. Flight logs seen by the paper reveal that most of the CIA planes landed in Germany (96 visits), and Britian (80 visits). The report suggests that European airports have frequently been facilitating the transport of suspected terrorists by the CIA to the Guantanamo Bay camp, or possibly to secret prisions somewhere in eastern Europe.
The Washington Post reported back in November the existence of such secret prisons, with NGO Human Rights Watch identifying EU member Poland & Romania as likely locations for the camps.
Washington has been under some pressure to provide clarification over the whole thing. UK foreign minister, Jack Straw on behalf of the EU, expressed concern about possible "violations of international law" in a letter sent to Washington. State Dept. spokesman Sean McCormack said the administration would respond, "to the best of our ability".
Dutch foreign minister Bernard Bot said before the Dutch parliament last week that if the reports of the alleged existence of CIA prisons in Europe were found true, it would have "consequences" for Dutch participation in military operations in Afghanistan.
Wow, the U.S. is doing such a great job of bringing the world together, as well as showing them our world-renowned ethics! We should be so proud of our country! In fact, I'm swelling with pride as I type....
I hope Europe bitch-slaps our country into shape. The United States needs a good bitch-slappin' right about now.

South Africa Says 'Yes' To Gay Marriage!

On Thursday, South Africa's top court said that it was unconstitutional to deny gay people the right to marry, making it the first African country to go ahead with the legalization of same-sex marriage! The Constitutional Court told parliament to amend marriage laws to include same-sex partners within the year--a step that would make South Africa the 5th country in the world to approve gay marriage.
The court said if parliament did not act, the legal definition of marriage would be automatically changed to include same-sex unions.
The case stemmed from an application won a year ago by a lesbian couple to have their marriage recognized in a lower court. Only one of the court's 11 judges dissented from the ruling.
South African gay activists have won a string of battles in recent years, including the right to adopt children & inherit from partner's wills.
Congratulations South Africa!! Now if only the U.S. could follow suit!
Marriage--Anything Less Is Not Equal!

1984 Memo: Alito Backed Cops Who Shot Unarmed Teenager

Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito's views on abortion were in the news this week, but yet another memo has surfaced from his years as a Reagan administration laywer.
Alito wrote that he saw no constitutional problem with a police officer shooting and killing an unarmed teenager who was fleeing after a $ 10 home burglary.
Alito wrote in a memo to Justice Department officials, "I think the shooting in this case can be justified as reasonable." He added that because the officer could not know for sure why a suspect was fleeing, the courts should not set a rule forbidding the use of deadly force. -WHAT??
The 4th Amendment forbids " unreasonable searches and seizures" by the goverment, and the high court said that killing an unarmed suspect who was subject to arrest amounted to an "unreasonable seizure". Justice Byron White said, " A police officer may not seize an unarmed, non-dangerous suspect by shooting him dead."
This particular subject hits very close to home for me, for I lost someone I loved very much (who was unarmed & fleeing police) to a trigger-happy cop. The fact that Alito felt it "reasonable" to shoot and kill an unarmed, fleeing teenager, casts serious doubt to me whether or not this man can "reasonably" serve on the Supreme Court. Not to mention his agenda to overturn Roe v. Wade, which he has laid out a strategy for.
This man has NO place on the Supreme Court!

Bomb Kills 10 More Marines In Fallouja

10 marines were killed and 11 wounded as a powerful makeshift bomb exploded near Fallouja in the deadliest "insurgent" attack on U.S. troops in about 4 months.
Four more U.S. troops who were killed were announced Friday, bringing the number to 18 U.S. troops killed in Iraq since just Wednesday!
This recent attack that killed 10 marines on patrol searching for explosive devices, hit in a factory courtyard near the former "insurgent" stronghold.
At least 2,124 U.S. service members have died since that start of the war in 2003.
All for what??
