Feds Pay A Little "Visit" To Student

2 months ago, federal agents payed a little visit to a senior at U. Mass. Dartmouth. The student, who was trying to complete a research paper on Communism for Professor Pontbriand's class on fascism & totalitarianism, filled out a form for the request of a copy of Mao Tse-Tung's book "The Little Red Book" through the school's library loan program. On the form he had to include his name, address, phone number, & social security number.
The student was later visited at his parent's home in New Bedford by 2 agents of the Department of Homeland Security.
The student's professor said the student was told by the agents that the book is on a "watch list", & that his background, which included a lot of time overseas, triggered them to investigate the student further.
"I told my students to go to the direct source, and so he asked for the official Peking version of the book. Apparently, the Department of Homeland Security is monitoring inter-library loans, because that's what triggered the visit, as I understand it", said Professor Pontbriand.
"The Little Red Book" is a collection of quotations & speech excerpts from Chinese leader Mao Tse-Tung. In the 50's & 60's during the Cultural Revolution in China, it was required reading. Although there are abridged versions available, the student asked for a version translated directly from the original book.
The student told Prof. Pontbriand & Dr. Williams that the Department of Homeland Security agents brought the book with them, but did not leave it with the student.
Dr. Williams said in his research he regularly contacts people in Afghanistan, Chechnya, & other Muslim hot spots & suspects that some of his calls are monitored. He had been planning to offer a course on terrorism next semester, but is now reconsidering because it might put his students at risk.

This makes me fucking sick! Now students in this country cannot even check out a book form their school library without federal agents tracking them down & paying them a little "visit"! What kind of freedom is that, to be in fear to do research on a school paper? Now American students have to be compromised because of the paranoid fear this goverment has of " terrorism"! Teachers are now in fear to teach their students about ALL history, which does include historical figures such as Mao Tse-Tung. Our tax dollars are going to pay for this useless waste of time-when they could be out catching REAL terrorists! Bullshit. It's gone too far. When the United States goverment compromises the education of American students by denying them access to books relating to the subject they are writing papers for school on, I'd say it's gone too far.
Orwell was a fucking Nostradamus! Next, we'll be paid a visit by the feds for THINKING about any subject remotely related to terrorism.
I am appalled, sickened, disappointed, outraged, disgusted, & ashamed of the United States goverment. If you are not feeling any one of the above emotions, your either a.) not human, or b.) not fucking paying attention!!!
