Diego Rivera

Diego Rivera was born December 8th, 1886 in Guanajuato, Mexico.
In 1907, Rivera arrived in Europe & went to study in Barcelona, Spain, & from there proceeded to Paris where he lived & worked with great artists. Paris in that time was experiencing the emergence of cubism in paintings like Picasso. So from 1913 to 1918 Rivera himself embraced this new style of art. His painting began to attract attention around this time, & he was able to display them at several exhibitions.
In 1920, Rivera left France & returned to Mexico in 1921, where he continued his career as an artist. Around this time, he became involved in the new Mexican mural movement, experimenting with fresco painting on large walls. He soon developed his own unique style, with simple figures & bold colors.
Around this time, Rivera also became interested in left-wing politics. When he painted his first mural, he chose ethnic Mexican subjects in a political context. Many of Rivera's murals deal with Mexican society & that country's Revolution. His political beliefs, some called "radical", his attacks on the church (he became an atheist), as well as his conversing with left-wing assassins & Trotskyists, made him quite the controversial figure even in Communist circles.
His relationship with the Communist Party was long, complicated & stormy. Right-wing students protested against murals before they were even finished, but Rivera refused to stop work, & was often the only artist left working on his murals, with a pistol stuck in his waistband!
Around this time, he met the amazing Frida Khalo, an artist herself. She became his 2nd wife. Rivera became quite famous & started a second series of murals, which attracted the attention from people abroad. Rivera was invited to go to Russia, for the 10th anniversary of the Revolution. But in Russia, he did not get along with the assistants assigned to help him with his murals, & soon the mural was at a standstill.
Rivera was ordered back to Mexico by the Latin American Secretariat of the Cominterm right before his expulsion from the Communist Party in 1929.
In 1930 Rivera was invited to go to the United States, where he eventually moved to New York after exhibitions in other states. There he was asked to paint a mural for the RCA building, part of the Rockefeller Center. But Rivera pissed off the patrons & Rockefeller by featuring a portrait of Lenin in his mural, which was supposed to depict "Man at the Crossroads Looking with Hope and High Vision to the Choosing of a New and Better Future". Work was abruptly stopped & Rivera was told to change the mural or cease painting. He declined & was fired so to speak, but paid in full. His amazing work was covered & then destroyed.
Between 1935-1943 he recieved no goverment commissions & only got a job painting a mural for the new Hotel Reforma in Mexico City, but here to, was a disagreement & as a result the mural was altered without his consent. Rivera was able to file a lawsuit for damages & won.
Since Rivera's expulsion from the Communist Party, he had sided with the Trotskyites, & when Trotsky & his wife arrived in Mexico, Rivera & Khalo welcomed them into their home. Frida had a short affair with Trotsky while he stayed in their home, but this came after quite a few affairs on Rivera'a part. Rivera & Khalo divorced, but eventually got back together.
The late 1940's is when Rivera tried to get back into the Communist Party, to no avail. He fought with Trotsky before his assassination, & had the Mexican police suspicious that he created that crime. In 1946, Rivera made an attempt to win the Communist Party's forgiveness by denouncing himself as a bad Communist. But yet again, he was rejected by the Party. He tried a few years later, & was rejected again. The Party was upset at him for not only siding with Trotsky, but for painting an unflattering portrait of Stalin. Rivera understood this & when he was asked to paint for the Mexican Exhibition in Paris in 1952, he produced a pro-Stalinist, anti-Western propaganda piece. The Mexican goverment refused to exhibit it for it's insults towards the French goverment.
In September 1954, Rivera was finally accepted back into the Communist Party, but it was bitter-sweet, for earlier in the year his beloved Frida Khalo had passed away due to many complications arriving from her accident as a young woman.
Rivera died 3 years later on November 24th, 1957.
Diego Rivera is this week's Revolutionary Of The Week for his innovative art, as well as his leftist politics. Rivera always stood by his convictions, & refused to alter his art for anyone, even if it meant that his beautiful artwork that took so long to create, would be destroyed.

Mel Gibson's Twisted Version Of The Maya

Mel Gibson's latest film "Apocalypto", depicts the Maya as blood-thirsty, primitive people that deserved the countless atrocities committed against them.
Gibson, himself, has committed a racist act by making this movie.
The very impoverished lives that most Mayans live today are not due to the "excesses of their ancestors", as stated in an ABC segment about "Apocalypto" with Gibson. The truth is, the same religious, goverment, military, & corporate institutions who systematically took Indian lands & destroyed their culture here in the States, have also had a hand in the demise of the ancient, as well as the modern, Mayan people.
By making this biased film, Gibson has entered into a pretty fragile cultural situation, & may very well destroy what historians & indigenous people have built.
As with the Native American's struggles, the indigenous people of Mexico, South America, & Central America, still struggle to regain & preserve their culture, languages & lands.
The ABC segment about the film implied that converting to Christianity was the cure for the Maya's "blood-thirsty" ways. This is false, for even currently the Mayan people have been invaded by Missionaries, which they have been for over 500 years.
To justify atrocities against the indigenous, people like Gibson have historically looked for ways to portray them as less than human, or animalistic.
In Chiapas, Mexico, home of the EZLN & many indigenous people, Maya communities are occupied by the corrupt Mexican goverment, with alot of help from the United States. A huge portion of the region's resources are taken from the Maya to either put into your Starbuck's cup, or generate electrical power for the rest of the country. Yet, the Maya in Chiapas are without electricity or running water themselves.
The Maya suffer the most severe prejudice of any ethnic group in Mexico. The Maya are often depicted as murderous, unintelligent, violent people. Mel Gibson has obviously accepted this stereotype in "Apocalypto" & wishes to spread the false & negative stereotype worldwide.
How will a movie that depicts the Maya as such murderous primitive's impact their current struggles, work, image, lives, & the perception of them? Will Gibson's film have any impact on the people in power that make Maya policy in Mexico & South/Central America? Due to the vast array of ignorance in the world, I believe it can.
Shame on Mel Gibson for making this movie, & quite possibly making the Mayan's & other indigenous peoples lives, all the more worse.

Make this an opprotunity to learn more about Mayan struggles & current indigenous struggles throughout the America's.

" For the past four years, without public notice, federal agents have assigned millions of Americans and other international travelers computer-generated scores assessing the risk they pose of being terrorists or criminals.
The travelers are not allowed to see or directly challenge these risk assessments. And the goverment intends to keep them on file for 40 years.
Earlier in November, the goverment disclosed the existence and details of the Automated Targeting System for the first time in the Federal Register. Privacy and civil liberties lawyers, congressional aides and even law enforcement officers said they thought the ATS had been applied only to cargo.
The scores are assigned to people entering and leaving the United States after computers access their travel records, including where they are from, how they paid for tickets, their motor vehicle records, past one-way travel, seating preference and meals ordered.
The Homeland Security Department notice called it "one of the most advanced targeting systems in the world" and said US ability to spot criminals and other security threats "would be critically impaired without access to this data."
Still, privacy advocates view ATS with alarm. "It's probably the most invasive system the goverment has yet deployed in terms of the number of people affected," David Sobel of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a civil liberties group, said in an interview.
A similar DHS data-mining project for domestic air travelers caused a furor two years ago in Congress, which has barred its implementation until it can pass 10 tests for accuracy and privacy protection."

I found this most interesting while reading the DHS material: " The risk assessment is based on a set of National & user-defined rules which are comprised rule sets that pertain to specific operational/tactical objectives or local enforcement efforts."

The "risk assessment" is based on so-called set rules . But nowhere are those "set rules" available to the American public. I dont know about you, but if the United States goverment deems me a threat, I want to know why, & I want proof! I also would like to see this "set" of "rules" that the goverment will base this decision on, that could very well take away my rights & civil liberties & ability to travel. Wouldnt you??
How can the goverment call us a threat, without providing proof or even allowing us to view this? This is a gross & invasive targeting system, with no checks & balances, no real proof, & totally Un-American.

Mark my words. This is a set-up. A set-up by the United States goverment. A set-up for things to come. A setting-up of laws, rules, & codes, that the goverment is setting in place for A REASON.
A Police State in on the rise.

What more will it take for the American people to WAKE UP????
When you finally decide to do something about this, it will be too late. All the cute little rules, laws, & codes will already be in place to deny, rape, & rob you of all the rights you once thought you had.

Tancredo Calls Miami a "Third World Country"

Full-time racist, part-time Congressman, Tom Tancredo has told an online news site that Miami Florida "has become a third world country".
Recently, Tancredo visited Florida to attend Restoration Weekend, a gathering of conservative activists. Afterwards, he told the online news site, "Look at what has happened to Miami. It has become a Third World country. You just pick it up and take it and move it someplace. You would never know you're in the United States of America. You would certainly say you're in a Third World country."
Tancredo's comments had Miami Republican Ileana Ros-Lehtinen reacting quickly, but in my opinion, not hard enough. She called Tancredo "flat out wrong", but then went on to offer him an invitation to Florida.
"I invite my friend, Tom, to visit beautiful Miami, my hometown, and experience firsthand our hospitality. Come on down, Tom, the water's fine!"
Tancredo, who chairs the House Immigration Reform Caucus & backed the fence along the Mexico border idea, said Monday in an email that his comparison was based on crime statistics that he believes "are deeply rooted in the immigration debate".
So Tancredo thinks that the majority of crime committed in the United States is done by non-Americans, immigrants.
And although Tancredo mentions in his email that the number of homicides in Miami county reached 200 for the year, he FAILS TO MENTION that the number has actually DECREASED since the 1980's.
Tancredo goes on to expose more of his ridiculous racist thoughts by saying, " Moreover, the sheer size and number of ethnic enclaves devoid of any English and dominated by foreign cultures is widespread. Frankly, many of these areas could have been located in another country. And until America gets serious about demanding assimilation, this problem will continue to spread."
And this asshole may run for President in '08! If he ignorantly decides to persue that idea I will happily join the millions who will laugh his ass all the way back to Colorado, for racists have no place in the White House, or any goverment position.

Border Vigilante Found Guilty

On Wednesday, Roger Barnett, a border vigilante, was found guilty in the civil trial that stemmed from an October 30th, 2004 incident.
Roger Barnett, his wife & brother, stopped Arturo, Ronald, Vanese, & Angelique Morales & a friend of theirs while out on a hunting trip. Upon finding the group on land that Barnett leases for grazing livestock, Barnett yelled racist obsenities & pointed his AR-15 assault rifle at the 3 young girls (ages 9 & 11) & 2 men & threatened to kill them.
All hunters were Americans of Mexican decent. After testimony from other hunters who had previously been assaulted & yelled racist obsenities at by Barnett, he was ordered to pay $ 98,000 to the plaintiffs!

And the Minutemen would like you to believe this isn't about race.

Back on July 8th, 2006, I attended an anti-Minutemen/SOS protest in Hollywood & was disgusted at what I witnessed from the LAPD. They unleashed a fury of baton blows onto comrades simply videotaping the police actions. All was caught on tape, as seen above.
Jose Villa & Christen Westberry were beaten, & Jose was charged with felony "lynching".
The felony charges have been DROPPED against Jose!!!! This is great news, as the whole incident has not left my mind since that fateful day.
Also, the LAPD is going to file administrative charges, rather than criminal charges, against the officers involved. That is unfortunate, considering that the LAPD acted like criminal thugs that day.

" In Texas, two men brutalize and sexually assault a Hispanic teenager, dousing him with bleach and stubbing out cigarettes on his skin. In Tennessee, a former Klansman and corrections officer is arrested with 5 pipe bombs intended to blow up a bus of Mexican workers, "They are over here illegally and nothing gets done to them," he argued. On the border, at the notorious Ranch Rescue-a group instrumental in establishing the Minutemen co-founder Chris Simcox's first group, the Civil Homeland Defense-two undocumented El Salvadorian immigrants are illegally detained at gun point, where, according to their testimony, they are pistol-whipped and harassed by trained attack dogs.
According to a recent report by the Anti-Defamation League, these are just a few examples of the more than 2,500 hate crimes against Latinos documented by the FBI since 2000; violence that has been spawned by a bipartisan-endorsed, media-driven climate of hate, bankrolled by right-wing forces.
Two contrasting currents are coursing through the country in the wake of the mega-marches last spring, polarizing the immigration debate and forcing the issue into mainstream American discourse. One embodies a million-strong, immigrant-led, grassroots mobilized civil rights movement, recently formed into a National Alliance for Immigrant Rights, which coordinated Labor Day actions throughout the country. The other is marked by a anti-immirant hysteria incessantly perpetuated by the political establishment and mass media alike-which has galvanized the Right-wing contributing to a dramatic increase in hate groups and the savage crimes they perpetuate.
Since 2000, this hysteria has given rise to far-Right hate groups, including the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazi organizations, increasing by 33% from 602 to 803. Festering like an open wound, white supremacist, skinhead and Nazi rallies are springing up throughout the country, using anti-immigrant rhetoric as their wedge issue. The Minuteman Project has spawned sixty spin off groups, drawing leadership directly from the extremist ranks of the Patriot militias that had collapsed after the Oklahoma City bombing, while continuing to increase their membership. The Minutemen and their defenders claim that linking them to Nazi hate groups is "guilt by association". As co-founder Jim Gilchrist put it, "We are not racists. We don't endorse racism, and we're not a hate group." The reality, obscured by a complicit media, is that the Minutemen--advocates of gun-toting vigilantism--have attracted to their banner a range of far-Right fanatics, including those who openly advocate for the assassination, lynching, and murder of Blacks, Latinos, and other minorities."

" Not even Gilchrist's 2005 congressional bid encouraged him to part ways with openly fascist groups. A number of his campaign volunteers were from skinhead and white nationalist organizations, working the phone banks & computers while distributing neo-Nazi propaganda. Cliff May, a former campaign volunteer, stated: "Gilchrist has assured the media several times he had a zero-tolerance policy toward white supremacists.But from what I saw from the inside, it was more like, 'Don't ask, don't tell."
Since the Mintuemen Project's coming out party in April 2005, when they first emulated the 1977 Ku Klux Klan Border Watch for a month-long "patrol" of the Arizona-Mexico border, it's ties to open white supremacists have been well-documented. At least six members of the National Alliance who openly recruited for the "border patrol"--and one from the Aryan Nation, were among the early all-white recruits."

" Johnny and Michael, two members of the neo-Nazi National Alliance, strapped with semi-automatic pistols and standing alongside Gilchrist, were more to the point: " We're in a race war, not a peace march." Michael elaborated on his own immigration policy: "You get up there with a rifle and start shooting four or five a week, the other four or five thousand behind them are going to think twice about crossing that line." Such savage sentiment was shared even by those who were not organized racists, "It should be legal to kill illegals," another volunteer outfitted with a revolver specially chambered to fire shotgun shells expressed, " Just shoot 'em on sight."
These truths about the nature of the Minutemen have been omitted from media coverage. A recent American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) report that surveyed 581 articles and editorials about the vigilantes found "six areas of consistent misperception and innaccuracy", including "the extremist and xenophobib motivations" of the group; an underreporting of participation and promotion of the Minutemen Project from the white supremacist community"; and an almost complete omission of the "violence and illegal activity" perpetrated by the Minutemen and other vigilante groups."

"In fact, SOS had confederate flags, swastikas, and Hitler-era "seig-heil" salutes on display at a July 2005, demonstration at a day laborer center in Laguna Beach, CA. The groups leader, Joe Turner, justified lamely: "Just because one believes in white separatism, that does not make them a racist". In a chat room for the white supremacist Web site Stormfront, the story was painted somewhat differenly, as one online contributor wrote, groups like SOS are a "Trojan horse" for hardcore racists to enter more legitimated, "mainstream" anti-immigrant politics. "This is a movement every WN (white nationalist) should support and be active in." Underscoring this point, the sight has jumped to 52,000 users since 2005, even garnishing an uncritical nod from a FOX news affiliate."

"A number of other human rights groups have noted the parallels between the new Minutemen and militias as well. The Center for New Communities Building Democracy Initiative, an anti-nativist watchdog group, points out "The Minutemen of today and the militias of a decade ago have many commonalities ideologically. Despite all their 'law-and-order' rhetoric, they both rely on illegal paramilitary vigilantism and intimidation to push public policy.
Historically, this is the role vigilante bands have always fulfilled. Their violent rhetoric often accompanied by extreme action serves the system in an effort to terrorize those with the confidence to fight back, while attempting to push the mainstream argument further to the right."

Bush Appoints Contraceptive-Hater For Chief of Family Planning Program!?

The Bush administration has just appointed a new Chief of family-planning programs at the Department of Health and Human Services.
The new Deputy Assistant Secretary for population affairs will advise Secretary Mike Leavitt on things such as adolescent pregnancy & reproductive health. This position oversee's $ 283 million in annual family-planning grants that are designed to provide access to contraceptive supplies & information to anyone who needs & wants them.
So why the HELL would the Bush administration appoint Eric Keroack???
Keroack is a medical director of A Woman's Concern, a non-profit Chrisitan group out of Massachusetts, & an obstetrician-gynocologist.
Keroack also opposes contraception, refuses to distribute information promoting birth control, & supports sexual abstinence.
WTF??
Marilyn Keefe, interim President of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association has said that Keroack's work "seems to really be geared toward furthering anti-choice, anti-contraception policies."
This is further proof that Bush is totally out of touch with reality & on a clear path to deny women not only the right to choose what to do with their own bodies, but to keep birth control & STD control unavailable to them.
A Women's Concern, the Chrisitan pregnancy-counceling organization that Keroack is Medical Director for, regards the distribution of contraceptives as "demeaning to women". The group also supports abstinence until marriage, opposes contraception & will not distribute any information on birth control at it's 6 centers in Massachusetts.
Their website states that distribution of birth control is "adverse to human health and happiness"!!
Asked if Keroack's transition to a federal program where provison of birth control is an intregral part, President of A Woman's Concern, Mark Conrad said, " I don't think it's going to be an issue for him".
Are you fucking kidding me?? After reading this I immediately scrolled to the source of this article to make sure it wasn't from 'The Onion'!!
One more reason that the White House must be fully exterminated of Republicans come 2008! We cannot afford to have people & ideologies like this in federal agencies as important as Family-Planning & Health.
This appointment did not require Senate confirmation, which is why we need a President in '08 that is anything BUT a Republican.
Bush promised bipartisanship after the recent elections, but this is just the opposite.
Once again, Bush injects his religious, Neo-Con, conservative, jurassic beliefs into this country's federal agencies, at the expense of all women.
Make sure this stops by voting against ALL Republicans in 2008. If your a woman, stand up for yourself & fellow women! These are your rights at stake--save them by voting out all Repugs in 2008!

Marine Gets Light Sentence For Murder & Coverup

Marine Private, John J. Jodka, who pleaded guilty to reduced charges in the killing of an innocent Iraqi civilian, was sentenced to just 18 months in custody today.
The military judge wanted to give Jodka a 5 year sentence, but was bound by the terms of the plea deal.
After reviewing evidence, including a video made by the Marine squad 2 days after the murder, where 20 year old Jodka made profane jokes about murdering more people in Iraq.
Jodka was part of a squad of 7 Marines & one Navy corpsman. They kidnapped 52 year old Hashim Ibrahim Awad in Hamdania, Iraq, taking him to a roadside hole, shooting him & then tried to cover up the incident.
This was outright murder of an innocent Iraqi civilian & was followed by a dirty attempt to cover up the disgusting crime. All of these military members should be sentenced to life in prison--in Iraq.
1 1/2 years for the murder of an unarmed man? Not only is this a mass injustice for this poor man & his family, but this sets such a bad example for the military in Iraq.
I wonder if Private John J. Jodka sleeps at night, or if Hashim Ibrahim Awad haunts his dreams?

Brown, The New Black: Texas Gives Green Light To Racism

Farmers Branch, a Dallas, Texas suburb has become the first Texas city to pass "tough anti-immigration measures", a move that will surely promote racism & discrimination.
City Council members approved fines for landlords who rent to illegal immigrants, allow the local authorities to screen suspects in police custody to check their immigration status, & makes English the official language.
Attorneys with the Mexican American Legal Defense & Education Fund told Council members prior to the vote that these proposals could violate federal housing laws that prevent discrimination, as well as the 1st Amendment. But the pricks at City Council paid no mind, boasting, " We passed this expecting to be sued," Council Member Tim O'Hare said.
Farmers Branch is 37% Hispanic, according to the Census. So these measures passed will most definately alienate them, as well as discriminate against them, regardless of legal status.
Also, it puts landlords in the position of ICE or Border Patrol, which they are NOT qualified to do. Landlords are not trained to recognize legal documents such as immigration papers, therefore cannot be allowed to determine if one is "illegal" or "legal".
And an "English Only" city?? Don't get me started. This is nothing but an ineffective symbolic measure that is xenophobic & discriminates, which is sure to promote hate & discrimination towards non-English speaking people.
Making English the "official language" of the US is about as urgently needed for as making hotdogs the official food at baseball games! The "English Only" measure has been proven to also imperil programs that can help non-English students & adults attain English proficiency.
Not a good move, Texas.

Recently, more than 100 cases of hallucinations, delirium, & other unusual psychiatric behavior in patients treated with the supposed "Bird Flu" drug, Tamiflu, has prompted the FDA to add a new warning label to the drug.
The FDA updated the label after getting 103 reports of abnormal behavior, mostly from children in Japan. Japan used the most Tamiflu over any other country, with 30 million plus prescriptions since 2001.
Here in the U.S., it has been prescribed around 8 million times since 1999, at a rate of about 2 million times a year.
And although the number of reports of strange, bizarre behavior from people taking Tamiflu is increasing, the FDA & Tamiflu producers Roche, either blame the actual flu for the patients behavior, or state that there is no direct link between the odd psychiatric behavior & the drug Tamiflu.
The 103 new cases occurred between August 29, 2005 & July 6, 2006. This marks a sharp increase when comparing the 126 similar cases reported & logged for more than 5 years.
The number & nature of the newly reported cases, along with comments from doctors who believe the drug caused the strange behavior, keeps the FDA from completely ruling out Tamiflu as the cause.
Once again, the Pentagon's Bird Flu hoax makes headlines. Last year, against all scientific prudence & routine public health procedures, the world population was whipped up into a frenzy of fear that only the US goverment can provide. Irresponisble public health officials from the US administration & the USCDC warned the world of the dangers of a viral strain that might be spread from birds, similar to the flu pandemic of 1918. This led to billions in taxpayer money going to a handful of pharmaceutical giants positioned to profit big. One of them being the Swiss-US pharmaceutical company Roche Holdings.
The ONLY medicine we are told that reduces the symptoms of "Bird Flu" is the drug Tamiflu, produced by Roche.
Due to the fear & total media panic, Roche is overflowing still with orders for Tamiflu. The company has also refused a request from the US Congress to lift it's executive patent rights to allow other drug manufacters to produce Tamiflu, saying it's just too complex for others to rapidly produce....Yeah, right!
The real interest though, is the California company that developed Tamiflu & gave the marketing rights to it's patented discovery to Roche, Gilead Sciences Inc.
And who's tied to Gilead??? The recently "resigned" US Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld!
Rumsfeld was once named Chairman of the Board for Gilead Sciences, but resigned in 2001 when he became the Secreary of Defense.
While Rumsfeld was Sect. of Defense, he purchased additional stock to Gilead Sciences Inc, worth $ 18 million, making him it's largest stock owners today.
So, Rumsfeld, the same man who supported the use of contrived intelligence to justify the Iraq invasion, now reaps the huge benefits of a flu panic his administration has done everything to promote.
And now, the "Bird Flu" drug Tamiflu is causing crazy psychiatric behavior, delirium, hallucinations, aggressive behavior, & suicidal thoughts from it's patients.
Coincidence?? I think not.
Call me a conspiracy theorist, or whatever. But this is one of the many reasons I refuse to take any "vaccine" promoted by the US goverment, or that it's administration reaps the benefits from. I shake my head at the countless sheep that stand in line every winter at their local pharmacy to recieve hell-knows-what injected into their arms by the goverment. Thanks, but no thanks.

The agents accepted the veracity of "V" 's message and refrained from veering "V" from his vanguard visit as the vox populi.

Many law enforment agents dutifully responded to the first impression security concerns caused by "V" 's dramatic and startling presence at the seat of govermental power. All but one who confronted "V" were generally pleasant, professional and ultimately respectful of the voraciously valued Rights of peaceful protest, dissent and Petition that "V" was claiming and exercising. Unfortunately, there was one agent who, either out of vanity, vice, or emotional instability, believed his vows of service and badge would vindicate his use of violence where clearly none was justified.

One Secret Service agent near the White House, even after he and all the other agents had recognized that the toy daggers in "V" 's belt were plastic and part of the costume, and despite the clearly peaceful and non-threatening behavior of "V" the officer forcefully seized the plastic daggers from "V" 's belt. After a bit of mental gymnastics between the agent and "V", amid the growing public spectacle and peer pressure from his fellow officers(who voiced their agreement with "V" 's logic and assertion of his Rights), "V" eventually prevailed over the vexed officer and succeeded in securing the return of the toy daggers."

..."At "V" 's request, a Secret Service agent called up to the White House to ask if someone would come to the gate to accept service of the papers. After 20 minutes or so, word came to the gate house that the papers should be mailed to the President. This was done the next day."

Joseph Turner, founder of the racist anti-immigrant group Save Our State (S.O.S.) (pictured above) ran for San Bernardino City Unified School Board member in California this election &.....LOST!!!!!
Turner received a pathetic 11.09% of the votes (4,305), while Lynda K. Savage sailed to victory.
Joseph Turner was hoping to implant his racist ass onto the school board in hopes that he could deny the children of immigrants, which he calls "anchor babies", equal rights in school. But, it looks as if the people voted to keep racism out of our schools!
Mysteriously though, some comments left on the S.O.S. website forum regarding Turner's upcoming "victory" have disappeared! Just days ago, S.O.S. members, including Turner himself, were openly discussing a post election victory get-together after this Saturday's Maywood 2 protest. That's right, S.O.S. failed to learn it's lesson the first time around (they're a little slow), so this Saturday they plan to invade the city of Maywood once again. The people of Maywood will be ready, no doubt.

Sidenote: Loretta Sanchez beat anti-immigration candidate Tan Ngyuen in the Orange County race!!!!

Clara Fraser

Clara Fraser was born March 12th, 1923 in Boyle Heights, California, a working class, multi-ethnic neighborhood in East L.A.
Born to radical Jewish parents, her mother was a liberal socialist from Russia who worked in the garment industry & served as a business agent for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, & her father was an anarchist & a staunch member of the Teamsters Union.
Early on, in her teens, Clara was at the forefront of agitation for civil rights & socialism. She was a strong feminist way before the 60's women's lib. movement, & stood for lesbian/gay rights, race liberation, feminsim, & socialism. She welded these issues into the framework of the Freedom Socialist Party (FSP) & Radical Women, which she co-founded & led for many years as FSP Secretary, & at the time of her death, National Chair.
Clara combined Marxist theory, interracial solidarity, grassroots organizing, & emphasized building united fronts & a working class political party.
Clara found work as an electrician at Boeing Aircraft & successfully campaigned for increased involvement of women in the International Assoc. of Machinists, as well as first class union membership for blacks.
Although Fraser was hounded from job to job by the FBI, she still participated in many political causes throughout the 50's & 60's while raising 2 sons.
In 1965, Fraser helped lead the Seattle branch of the Socialist Workers Party in a cut to create the Freedom Socialist Party, which was committed to revolutionary socialism, African American rights,& women's liberation.
In 1967, Fraser joined radical Gloria Martin to form Radical Women. It's goal was to teach women the know-how, leadership skills & workingclass consciousness that many were denied in the male-dominated movements. She also helped lead Washington state's first abortion rights demonstration.
Fraser was arrested in an anti-apatheid protest at the South African Consulate in Seattle in 1985.
Fraser is best known for as the woman who beat Seattle City Light in a 7 year discrimination case. The utility fired her for her participation & leadership in a huge 11-day strike she designed to bring women into electrical trades..
Once retired, Fraser was able to be a full-time advisor for FSP & Radical Women. For 2 decades Fraser had been a columnist for the Freedom Socialist newspaper. Some of these writings, as well as other writings, are collected in her book, "Revolution, She Wrote". In the book's dedication, she wrote, " The act of fighting injustice is full of hope and joy when it is viewed, and properly so, as a slice of an innate historical tradition, an ancient reaching out for universal human fulfillment."
Clara Fraser died February 4th, 1998 in Seattle of emphysema.
Her vision, her tenacity, & her talents profoundly impacted social change movements in the United States & internationally, & for that she is this week's Revolutionary Of The Week.

Bernie Sanders, the only self-proclaimed Socialist in Congress, has won the Senate seat! Overwhelming the Republican newcomer Richard Tarrant, Sanders will add a much needed presence at the Senate.
Sanders, 65 years old, has served 8 terms in the House of Representatives for the state of Vermont.
On Tuesday night, he spoke to a roomful of supporters after his victory & said, " The time is long overdue for the United States Senate and House to start representing the working families of America and not just the rich and powerful. The time is long overdue to end the national disgrace of childhood poverty while we give hundreds of billions in tax breaks to people who don't need it." Adding, " And the time is long overdue for the United States of America to join the rest of the industrial world and provide health care to every man, woman and child as a right of citizenship."
Among the issues that Sanders has worked for over the years has been the price of prescription drugs. In fact, he led the first bus tour of senior's to Canada to buy discounted drugs. Sanders also pushes for Social Security, veteren's benefits, & raising the minimum wage.
Today, the country gains a great Senator, who promises to work for the working folk of this country & fight capitalism, as well as fight for better health care in the U.S.

The Republican's would like you to think that Donald Rumsfeld's resignation today was a well-thought out move by President Bush, made before the elections.
In reality, Bush has never wanted Rumsfeld to go, nor did Rumsfeld himself. Bush obviously felt backed into a corner by not only Democrats, but all involved, to get Rumsfeld out when he heard how the elections were going to turn out.
In other words: He Had No Choice!
Bush HAD to get Rumsfeld out in order to save his own ass, & whatever's left of his posse in Washington.
The country has spoken. We want change. We want the catastrophe that is Iraq to be dealt with, & dealt with properly.
Bush knew that with the Democrat's taking control of the House, & quite possibly the Senate (still waiting on Maccaca'a defeat), not only would Donald Rumsfeld's resignation be called for, but possibly the President's as well. Bush & his people were not willing to risk that, especially with the demise of the NeoCons in Washington.

The federal police were trying to break in & destroy the radio station, the people's main line of communication with each other. The entire town came out to defend this, fighting back & winning an amazing victory that we here in the United States should learn from.
The people of Oaxaca are not sheep. They refuse to stand by while a corrupt Governer resides in THEIR town. They want him removed. He refues to go. Therefore, the brave people of Oaxaca stand their ground & refuse to be ignored & bullied by their goverment.

One More Reason To Rid This Country Of E-Voting

Reports are already coming in regarding problems with the electronic voting machines being used in some precincts. I have never trusted these machines, nor will I ever. I used the Absentee Ballot method this year, & although that in itself is scary not knowing if your ballot actually made it by mail, it seems much safer than E-voting.
Today, reports are that "programming errors", & "inexperience" in dealing with electronic voting machines have messed with hundreds of precincts already.
The use of electronic voting machines not only increases the risk of corruption, but has also proven to be difficult for voters, especially the elderly. I refuse to vote from these machines, & maybe if all Americans did, Congress would outlaw these machines of corruption!
Hopefully, this has no bearing on taking the Republicans out of the House & Congress by their hair, & tossing them out onto the curb to be picked up with the rest of the trash! This country is in serious need of change, & cleaning up the House & Congress by taking out some stinky trash, is a good place to start.

Bush Signs Police State/ Martial Law Acts

On October 17th, in a private Oval Office ceremony, Bush signed two very scary Acts which threaten the core of America as we know it.
The Public Law 109-364 or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 (H.R.5122), allows the President to declare a "public emergency" & station troops anywhere in America & take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governer or other local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder".
On the same exact day, Bush also signed the Military Commissions Act of 2006. The 2 laws complement one another. One allows for torture & detention in other countries, while the other seeks to enforce acquiescence here at home, preparing to order the military onto the streets of the US. Nothing short of Martial Law & a Police State.
Section 1076 of the Authorization Act, which grants the Pentagon $500-plus billion for it's actions, is titled, "Use of the Armed Forces in Major Public Emergencies." Section 333, "Major public emergencies; interference with State and Federal law" states that " the President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that domestic violence has occured to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaing public order, "in order to suppress, in any State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy."
For Bush, "enforcement of the laws to restore public order" means to commandeer National Guard from any state, over the objections of local goverment, military & local police; ship them off to another statee, conscript them in a law enforcement mode; & set them loose against "disorderly" citizens--protesters, even, or those who object to forced vaccinations & quarantines in the event of a bio-terror event!
The law also facilitates militarized police round-ups & detention of "PROTESTERS", so-called "ILLEGAL ALIENS", " POTENTIAL TERRORISTS", & other "DESIRABLES" for detention in facilities already contracted for & under construction by Halliburton.
You read right. Detention camps are being constructed right under our noses designed for ANYONE who RESISTS the foreign & domestic AGENDA of the BUSH ADMINISTRATION!!
The new law, signed by Bush in a private White House ceremony, further collapses the divide between the military & police: A TALE TELL SIGN OF A RAPIDLY CONSOLIDATING POLICE STATE IN THE U.S., all accomplished by selling it as part of the "war on terror".
Despite the shocking & unprecedented nature of this act, there has not been an outcry by the American public or media, & little reaction from elected members of Congress.

What the hell is wrong with the sheep of this country to allow Bush to sign such a law???
We should all be out in the streets demanding the impeachment of Bush, & demanding we get OUR country back!
You need to fully understand the ramifications of this law/act, & take your I-Pods out of your damn ears, & the blindfolds off your eyes!

We, & when I say we, I mean those who protest against the goverment, those of us who practice our free speech rights regardless of whether it coincides with the goverments or not, those of us with a different color skin than the majority in the White House, those of us who blog a little too far to the Left------WE ARE ALL AT RISK!!!
This law means that Bush can just make a call & have the National Guard or military show up at the next protest you might attend, round everyone up, & shipped off to Dissenter Camp.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican celebration to remember & honor those loved ones who have departed. It is believed that the spirit of the dead visit their families on October 31st & leave November 2nd.
In order to celebrate, families make altars & place ofrendas (offerings) of food such as pan de muerto, candles, incense, yellow marigolds known as Cempazuchitil, & photos of the departed soul, on the altar.
On this day in Mexico, the streets are filled with decorations of papel picado, flowers, & candy skulls.
It is a time to remember lost loved ones, but also a time of celebration. Death is respected greatly in Mexican culture & celebrated throughout.
Here in Los Angeles, Dia de los Muertos is widely celebrated. There are quite a few festivals, some which I attended & have posted my personal photos I took below.
The Hollywood Forever Cemetary in Hollywood has an amazing festival every year where families make altars for show & prize money. There's great food, shopping, music, & costumes---all in the fitting setting of the cemetary where many deceased famous people lie.

3,000 Teachers Travel To Oaxaca In Support Of APPO

"Section 18 of the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE, a teacher's union) in Michoacan announced the departure of 3,000 teachers October 30th headed for the state of Oaxaca, and an indefinate work stoppage at the over 10,000 schools where the union is represented, in support of the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca (APPO).
Representing the teachers and the members of the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Michoacan (APPM), Jose Luis Zarco Garcia declared his non-cooperation with Sunday's incursion into Oaxaca by elements of the PFP.
He pointed out that the entry of state forces into the city was a surprise, since the dialog with the APPO and the Oaxacan teachers has not concluded.
He said that (the SNTE teachers) would not allow the PFP or the Army to stay in Oaxaca, and that "Michoacan is getting organized to add approximately 3,000 comrades to the caravan that is leaving the DF (Mexico City) for Oaxaca."
The teachers of Michoacan and the APPM will declare Tuesday when the work stoppage will begin in the over 10,000 schools of Michoacan, and will march from the offices of the Interior Department to Plaza Melchor Ocampo (a central square in Michoacan adjoining the cathedral."

Oaxaca Under Attack

The struggle in Oaxaca began May 22nd when the teacher's union went on strike, demanding the removal of Governer Ulises Ruiz, among other things.
Today, Oaxaca is in a state of emergency, with the people being brutally repressed by the bastard, Ruiz.
This weekend, the goverment sent in it's federal police & rightwing paramilitaries to attack the peaceful, protesting people of Oaxaca. Armed with teargas, bulldozers, helicopters, tanks, & high-powered weapons, they face off against The People, armed with nothing more than sticks & molotav coctails.
The APPO (The Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca) are defending their barricades against the brutal police & paramilitaries.
In at least one instance, around 300 police were forced to back down from advancing on a barricade by close to 1,000 protesters.
The killing of protesters & innocent bystanders has began.
Sadly, IndiMedia reporter & NY documentary filmaker, Brad Will, was killed by gunshots fired from rightwing paramilitaries while reporting & filming from the scene.

Brad will be greatly missed, but we are forever grateful to him for his courage to be one of the few journalists willing to risk it all for the world to see & hear Oaxaca's pain & oppression.

EMERGENCY COMMUNIQUE FROM THE MEXICAN CHAPTER OF " IN DEFENSE OF HUMANITY":

" At this moment, 5:15 in the afternoon, the people of Oaxaca are heroically resisting the brutal aggression of the federal police (army in police uniform), which is taking over the city of Oaxaca, with teargas and pepper spray, bulldozers, helicopters and tanks.
Radio University is in danger of being taken over in the same manner, although it is protected with barricades. In many cities throughout the country, mobilizations in defense & solidarity with the Oaxacan popular movement are taking place.
Detained companeros are being taken away in helicopter. There are house searches and violence in the city and surrounding area. The delinquent and criminal governer of the state, Ulises Ruiz, refuses to step down. There is confrontation in the Technological University because of the people's resistance, and numerous injuries from gases.
We emphasize that the resistance is a peaceful resistance of the masses.
We reiterate our call for solidarity from the sister chapters of In Defense of Humanity, and all people of good will. We ask you to protest at the embassies and consular offices of Mexico in your respective countries, against the repressor Vicente Fox."

UPDATE:
Mexico's Lower House of Congress has called on Ulises Ruiz to step down from office!
They voted overwhelmingly in favor of a motion calling on Ruiz to step down.
PRI members of the Chamber of Deputies failed to support Ruiz, with most abstaining & a few voting against the motion.
Still, confrontations between state police & protesters contine.

Bush has done nothing for the good of this country, so why would he now? His only concern here is making sure his Repug party keeps it's power. He has not 'seen the light' or even awoken from his unjust war slumber. In fact, right after stating he wasn't satisfied with the progress in Iraq & that he was "changing tactics", he ended with...

" Absolutely we're winning.", & that we should not think about withdrawing!

So, if you choose to believe Bush & follow him like a sheep to this country's slaughter, go for it.

The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage today, entitling gays to the same rights as heterosexual's.
The court gave lawmakers 180 days to rewrite the marriage laws to either include same-sex couples, or create a new system of ' civil unions' for gays.
Justice Barry T. Albin said, " Although we cannot find that a fundamental right to same-sex marriage exists in this state, the unequal dispenstion of rights and benefits to committed same-sex partners can no longer be tolerated under our state constitution."
The decision passed , 4-3.

Tan Nguyen: Campana de Hipocresia

Most people haven't heard of Tan Nguyen, not even the people who reside in Orange County, California, where Nguyen (R) is running for Congress. But those of us heavily involved in the immigration movement do, especially now.
I first learned of Nguyen from the anti-Mexican organization Save Our State (S.O.S.). Not only did he post on the S.O.S. website forum, showing great interest in S.O.S.'s anti-Mexican rhetoric, but back in July Nguyen's campaign manager, Ryan S. Flynn sent S.O.S. a letter introducing his candidate & asked S.O.S. for help relating to Nguyen's campaign. An S.O.S. member that goes by the name "minuteman111" posted on the site's forum that they were "helping out Tan Nguyen in Orange County's run for Congress in the 47th district", & also inquired about an up-coming anti-immigration rally held by S.O.S.
Nguyen, a raging hypocrite, seems to favor racist, anti-Mexican organizations to help his campaign because he also has been snuggling up to the California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR). Yeah, the same one who's founder, Barbara Coe, has referred to immigrants from Mexico as "illegal barbarians who are cutting off heads and appendages of blind, white, disabled gringos", & that said Mexican immigrants are "savages".
In fact, the recent letter sent out on CCIR letterhead to 14,000 Hispanic Orange County residents warning them that going to the polls in November could result in their deportation, actually traces back to Nguyen & his campaign, not CCIR.
After an investigation that had State officials searching & seizing property from Nguyen's campaign offices, the letter led them to believe it was not written by a Spanish speaker due to it's grammatical errors.
It read, translated in English, " You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal or you are an immigrant, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time, and you will be deported for voting without a right to do so. At the same time, you are advised that the goverment of the United States is installing a new computer system to verify the names of all new registered voters that vote in the October and November elections. Anti-immigration organizations can ask for information from this new computer system."
According to the Orange County Register, "The bulk mail permit used to send out the letter was sent by a Huntington Beach-based company named Mailing Pros. Nguyen's campaign used the company for five different mailers this year, with several highlighting immigration issues, according to campaign finance disclosures. Christopher West, who owns the company, said he was interviewed for 2 hours by investigators from the State Attorney General's office. He would not publicly disclose who hired him, although he gave the information to investigators. West said he had no idea any laws were being broken when the mailer was sent."
Also, it reported, " According to campaign finance disclosures, Nguyen's campaign also has contracted with the Burbank-based Political Data Inc. for data sorts from the Registrar of Voters database. Records show the company purchased an Orange County voter database in September, which could show address of every foreign-born voter in the county, the target group of the mailer."
Nguyen has, of course, denied any responsibility for the letter, stating that an employee of his did it without his knowledge.
Even his own Republican party members call foul. O.C. GOP Chairman Scott Baugh says, " I've learned that Mr. Nguyen was involved in expediting that mailer. I've had conversations with the Attorney General and folks involved with the mail house. He called the mail house himself and told them to expedite the mailing."
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has called the letter racist & urged the Calif. Attorney General to prosecute anyone responsible.
The letter was an obvious attempt by Tan Nguyen & his supporters to intimidate & scare Hispanic voters from going to the polls. The letter had this distinct sentence, " You are advised that if your residence in this country is illegal OR YOU ARE AN IMMIGRANT, voting in a federal election is a crime that could result in jail time, and you will be deported for voting without having a right to do so."
If you are a legal immigrant, it is NOT a crime to vote! This statement in the letter is a false, racist intimidation tactic, used when one is in fact a racist against a particular race (in this case,Mexican), &/or is struggling in a campaign, &/or relies on dirty tricks to keep certain people from voting. In this particular political race, Nguyen is up against Loretta Sanchez (D), an experienced politician who is for Amnesty. Things are starting to click, huh?!
Recipiants of the letter that happen to be legal & longtime registered California voters are pissed, & rightfully so. The letter violated 2 California laws. One bans the use or tactic of coercion/intimidation in an effort to prevent a person from voting; & the other makes it illegal to challenge a person's right to vote on fraudulent &/or spurious grounds, knowingly.
Nguyen & his supporters claim that anti-Mexican racism is not their thing. Really? Could have fooled me.
Not only has Nguyen's Senior Advisor, former O.C. Republican Party Chair, Tom Fuentes, battled for the failed Prop.187, but he has a history of trying to supress Latino votes. In 1988, Fuentes ordered uniformed security guards to be posted at polling locations in heavily Latino-populated neighborhoods! The guards displayed bilingual signs that warned non-citizens not to vote. The Chief Deputy Secretary of State said their presence was "unlawful intimidation of voters" & had them removed.
Nguyen also, as I stated earlier, has ties to an organization called a "Trojan Horse" for white supremacists & Neo-Nazis by the Southern Poverty Law Center, Save Our State (S.O.S.), in which members post things such as, " It is our Border Patrol's duty to start shooting (Mexicans crossing the border illegally), call up the troops from Huachuca & Marine fighters from Yuma. Human wave attack!!! Everyone with guts in Az. should lock & load, even civilians get to shoot in all all out attack in their territory." And, " I say Nuke Mexico and be done with it. AFTER the wall is built, of course." And in the spirit of Halloween, " We might not be able to check the legal status of illegal aliens at the polls, but we sure can ask for proof of citizenship of all Trick or Treaters before we give them any candy."
And although CCIR denies knowledge of the Nguyen letter, they had him speak to their group a year ago, proud that Nguyen supported the Minutemen.

Yet again, another "Border Security" politician drives a wedge between races, dividing this country. Nguyen has chosen to use illegal scare tactics to intimidate Latino voters from going to the polls, where no doubt they would vote for Loretta Sanchez(D) instead of his hateful ass!
Hopefully Tan Nguyen will get the message November 7th!

Dorothea Lange

Dorothea Lange was born May 26th, 1895 in Hoboken, New Jersey. At 7 years of age she developed Polio, which she survived, but became disabled in her leg & foot.

Lange took an interest in photography, & studied in New York City, where she apprenitced in several New York photo studios. In 1918, Lange migrated to San Francisco & opened a successful portrait studio. She lived in the Bay area the rest of her life & married the Western painter, Maynard Dixon, & had 2 sons with him.

When the Great Depression hit, Lange turned her lens from the studio to the streets. She captured the true face of the unemployed & homeless, which led to her employment with the federal Resettlement Administration (RA), later called the Farm Security Administration (FSA).

In 1935, she divorced Dixon & married agricultural economist Paul Schuster Taylor, a professor at Berkeley.

From 1935-1939 Lange's work for the RA & FSA brought the plight of the forgotten, mostly sharecroppers, displaced farm families, & migrant workers to the public's attention. The photos she took were distributed free of charge to newspapers across the country.

Lange on the story behind the photo "Migrant Mother" (pictured above), " I saw and approached the hungry and desperate mother, as if drawn by a magnet. I do not remember how I explained my presence or my camera to her, but I do remember she asked me questions. I made 5 exposures, working closer and closer from the same direction. I did not ask her name or history. She told me her age, that she was 32. She said that they had been living on frozen vegetables from the surrounding fields, and birds that the children killed. She had just sold the tires from her car to buy food. There she sat in that lean-to tent with her children huddled around her and she seemed to know that my pictures might help her, so she helped me. There was a sort of equality about it."

In 1941, Lange was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for execellence in photography. After the attack on Pearl Harbor she gave up the prestigious award to record the forced evacuations of Japanese-Americans to relocation camps in the American west. This photo assingment added a new dimension to her work with the racial & civil rights issues it brought forth. "What was horrifying was to do this thing completely on the basis of what blood may be coursing through a persons veins, nothing else. Nothing to do with affliations or friendships or associations. Just blood."

As the Library of Congress wrote, " Lange quickly found herself at odds with her employer and her subjects persecutors, the United States goverment." Lange's attempts to use her camera lens to expose the social impact of the mass incarcerations at the camp's conflicted with the authorities. The military was suspicious of her, & she was even called before the War Relocation Authority on 2 occassions for alleged misuse of her photographs. The Wartime Civil Control Agency impounded most of her internment photographs, refusing to release them until after the war. Today, her approx. 800 photographs of the internement camps are available in the National Archives.

Lange died October 11th, 1965. True to her belief that the camera could teach people "how to see without a camera", she created images of human dignity & courage in the face of injustice. Not afraid of the consequences of showing the disgusting behavior & tactics of the United States goverment/military relating to WW2 & the inprisonment of Japanese-Americans through her photos, won Dorothea Lange this week's spot as Revolutionary Of The Week.

Growing dissent & lack of support for the Iraq Invasion, as well as for the incompetent President, has led the United States goverment to once again target "enemy propagandists".
CENTCOM announced earlier this year that a team would start "engaging bloggers who are posting inaccurate or untrue information, as well as bloggers who are posting incompetent information."
CENTCOM is infiltrating blogs, websites, & message boards to make sure that people "have the opprotunity to read positive stories". "Positive stories"?? Yeah, like how Iraq is a wonderful success, & how Iraq is now a great, liberated democracy, & my all-time favorite, how the "war on terror" is protecting America & keeping it's citizens oh-so-safe.
So now the US goverment perceives journalists, bloggers & online activists who spit the truth, which is oftentimes negative by nature, as "enemy propagandists". I knew this was coming, but it sickens me all the same.
The White House will target American citizens for propagating information they deem harmful to the interests of the US goverment, then classify them as enemy combatants. This is codified in Section 948a of the Military Commissions Act of 2006.
Goverment teams will work under the direction of the Army Web Assessment Cell, hunting for "documents, pictures, and other items that may compromise security", & then orders the parties to take the "offensive" content offline.
Once again, the US goverment tries it's hand at silencing dissent. How un-American is that??

Gilchrist Walks Out Of Debate On Democracy Now!

"The anti-immigration group the Minutemen Project announced yesterday that they are seeking to strip Coulumbia University of federal funding for what they say are violations of their civil rights. Last week, student demonstrators disrupted a speech by Minutemen founder Jim Gilchrist who was invited to the school by the College Republicans.
Over 20 students stormed the stage after Gilchrist came to the microphone and two students unfurled a banner reading, "No One Is Illegal". On Friday, Columbia University President Lee Bollinger issued a statement that read in part: " The disruption on Wednesday night that resulted in the termination of an event organized by the Columbia University College Republicans in Lerner Hall represents, in my judgement, one of the most serious breaches of academic faith that can occur in a university such as ours."
Bollinger has vowed to launch an investigation into the student's actions. But a press conference on Monday, the students claim that they were assaulted. They point to a video taken by a reporter from Univision. They say it depicts a member of the Minutemen kicking a student in the head.
Yesterday, Democracy Now! was to have a debate/interview with both Jim Gilchrist of the Minutemen, & Karina Garcia, student organizer from Columbia University. But after Karina Garcia delivered a well-spoken, articulate, & well-thought out rebuttal to Gilchrist, he shut down, refusing to speak any longer due to legal issues. This was strange & cowardly, seeing as he did this right after Garcia told of the Minuteman caught on Univision's camera kicking in the face of a non-violent demonstrator!
Garcia was calm, cool, & collected as she recounted what went down. But Gilchrist walked away like a coward after obviously being beat in a debate, & that speaks volumes.

Muhammad Ali

The world mostly knows of Muhammad Ali from his successful boxing career. But what makes Muhammad Ali this weeks Revolutionary Of The Week is the fact that Ali was an anti-war activist & was persecuted for that & his refusal to submit to the military draft.
On June 19th, 1967, an all-white jury in Houston, Texas, found Ali guilty for refusing to fight in the Vietnam War. Ali was given 5 years in prison, even though the average sentence for such a charge was just 18 months!
Ali has his passport confiscated, & was also stripped of his heavyweight title. This led to a 3 1/2 year hiatus from his boxing career at the prime of his life.
All this punishment for standing up for what he believed in.
Ali's refusal to be a tool for the United States goverment's war boosted the anti-war movement that was typically carried out by the white community.
Across the world, people showed their support for Ali. In Pakistan, young Pakistanis fasted. In Cairo, there was a huge demonstration. And in Guyana, there was a picket & rally in front of the US Embassy.
Muhammad Ali said, " Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No I'm not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would cost me millions of dollars. But I have said it once, and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people, or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality...If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn't have to draft me, I'd join tomorrow. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I'll go to jail, so what? We've been in jail for 400 years."
While in exile, Ali said, " I'm expected to go overseas to help free people from South Vietnam and at the same time, my people here are being brutalized, hell no! I would like to say to those of you who think I have lost so much, I have gained everything. I have peace of heart; I have a clear, free conscience. And I am proud. I wake up happy, I go to bed happy, and If I go to jail I'll go to jail happy."
For standing up for what he believed in, regardless of the consequences, Muhammad Ali is truly a Revolutionary.

The Tale Of The Little Wisp Of A Cloud

Once upon a time, there was a cloud who was very tiny and very lonely and used to stray far from the big clouds. She was very little, barely a wisp of a cloud. And whenever the big clouds made themselves rain so as to paint the mountains green, the little cloud would come flying to offer her services. But they scorned her because she was so small.

"You have nothing to give," the big clouds used to tell her. "Your so little."

They made terrible fun of her. Then, very sad, the little could would try to go off somewhere else to make herself rain, but wherever she went, the big clouds would push her aside. So the little cloud went even farther off until she came to a very dry place, so dry there wasn't a single branch growing, and the little cloud told her mirror (I forgot to tell you this little cloud carried a mirror so she could talk to herself when she was alone):

"This is the perfect spot to make myself rain because nobody ever comes here."

The little cloud made a great effort to make herself rain, and finally let out one little drop. That is, the little cloud disappeared and turned herself into a little raindrop. Little by little, the little cloud, now a little raindrop, came falling down. All on her lonesome, she fell and she fell, but there was nothing waiting for her down below. At last, the little raindrop splashed down all by herself. Since that desert was so very quiet, the little raindrop made a lot of noice when she splashed down, right on a stone. It woke up the Earth, who asked:

" What's that noise?"

"It was a raindrop falling," the stone answered.

"A raindrop? That means it's going to rain! Quick! Get up! It's going to rain!" she warned the plants hiding underground from the sun.

And the plants got right up and took a peek, and for a moment the whole desert was covered in green, and then the big clouds saw all that green from afar and said:

"Look. There's a lot of green over there. Let's make ourselves rain on that place. We didn't know it was so green."

And they went to make themselves rain on the place that had been a desert. They rained and rained and the plants grew and everything seemed to turn green at once.

"It's a lucky thing we're around," said the big clouds. "Without us, there'd be no green."

And nobody remembered then the little wisp of a cloud who let out one raindrop whose splash woke up the sleeping ones.

Nobody remembered, but the stone kept the little raindrop's secret. Time passed, and those first big clouds disappeared and those first plants died. And the stone, who never dies, told the new plants who were born and the new clouds who arrived the tale of the little wisp of a cloud who let out a little raindrop.

"Our enemies are bloodied and beaten. We cannot relent. Our boot is on their throat and we must have the willingness to crush their "throat" so that we can put our enemy down for good. Like most would-be despots and cult leaders, Turner does not play well with others. His Board of Education campaign website lumps his school board "opposition", half of the current school board, into a Hall of Shame. Since the website's inception, only one "opponent" merits explanation--the rest just sit there, with Turner's smear on their pictures. His campaign hinges on attacking two school board administrator's whose secretaries completed applications for their bosses' membership in professional organizations, the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) and the Association for Mexican-American Educators (AMAE).

Turner's partner, Alexis Ashley, is also running for school board.

Turner's post-election plan differ from his campaign strategy, and it's not about San Bernardino. In an email circulated to his supporters on September 27th, Turner promised to use a school board seat to target undocumented people through their children:

" Most importantly, I can assure you that I will use my position as an elected school board member to introduce creative and innovative solutions targeting our illegal alien problem. Similar to my Illegal Immigration Relief Act which is now being copied throughout the nation, you can count on me to replicate this strategic model and inititate discussions on ideas that if not persued in our district, will be persued in others."

In a communication to his followers, he was even clearer that continuing his national immigrant-bashing program is his real agenda, and a San Bernardino school board seat is merely a expedient means to that end: " I am going to use the school board as a similar vehicle to propose and initiate ideas for other districts that have the willingness to attack this problem."

Neither education or children's safety are on Turner's education agenda. Turner bluntly promised the San Bernardino County Sun that he would abolish bilingual programs, making education inaccessible for thousands of children. Then he would "aggressively target the policies that aide and abet illegal immigration." According to the Sun, " he also would persue ways to overturn the US Supreme Court decision that allows illegal-immigrant children to recieve free public education from kindergarten through 12th grade."

Turner has already tried to limit schoolchildren's access to emergency care, with a stunt that could have endangered his own child's safety: " One day my son brought home the emergency information card for school at the beginning of the year a couple of years back. It was ugent that we return this card ASAP. I couldn't even read the damn thing because they wanted so much information and each line of text was followed by a Spanish translation. I was furious. So, I fired off a hastily hand-written letter stating that if I wanted to read or speak Spanish, I would take my happy ass to Mexico and that we spoke English int his country. As I am sure you can imagine, I was pretty...er..direct. I concluded by stating that I wasn't going to send back their emergency card until it was in English-only."

Turner's interest in education may extend beyond barring immigrants from public schools. This spring, Turner's group, Save Our State, considered protesting a charter elementary school, Academia Semillas del Pueblo, until one of their members reported that parents were guarding their children. One Save Our State member went so far as to suggest bombing the school. Turner did not moderate the discussion or publicly reprimand the would-be bomber.

Turner left San Bernardino before high school and returned in the fall, in time to re-introduce himself to San Bernardino by dividing the city along ethnic lines when solicited signatures to qualify his proposed Illegal Immigration Relief Act for the November ballot. Although he failed to garner enough supporters, the ordinance would have prohibited renting to or transacting business with undocumented people, it would have required all renters to register their leases with the city, and it would have declared undocumented migrants "public nuisances", subject to "abatement" by other residents.

He is endorsed by three of the city council members who voted for the ordinance, and his boss, California Assemblymember Ray Haynes(R-Murrieta). For the time being, Turner has turned his attention to the education of the children of San Bernardino. But the dangerous dreams he dreams are turning meglomaniacal, from defying the US Supreme Court's ruling on education to his latest pseudo-Tanakhic epistle. He told the Ventura County Star in July, " Deep down, I feel like I've been called to greatness. If not me, who?" The answer will be up to the parents of San Bernardino."

I've been tagged! For once, I actually like this tag subject! So, thanks to LouiseFeminista over at StroppyBlog, the finest little Socialist/Feminist blog out there! Be sure to check her & Stroppy out!

1.) The feminist/women's lib movement has taught me & other women so much about women's struggles worldwide. It has also given women today the laws & rights which women were denied not too long ago. The 1970's were instrumental for this, & women today would not be in the same position had it not been for our feminist sisters who fought for our rights in the 70's.

2.) Feminism has taught me a sense of unity & comradery. So often in society, women are penned against one another, often times for such petty issues such as men/women, jealousy, etc. This behaviour must be squashed at all costs. In order for women to achieve our goals & take our entitled places in society, politics, & life, we must be united & hold each other up, as well as defend each other.

3.) Feminism has taught me that I, as a woman, am more than capable of standing on my own 2 feet, without any help from the male species!

4.) Feminism has given me pride. I am proud to be a woman, proud to wear whatever the hell I want (everything from "slutty" to "butch"), & proud of my body regardless of what shape it takes over time.

5.) Feminism has taught me that ALL women are beautiful, & ALL women are strong.

Sidenote: Faux News showed up to film the rally at the end of the march. Faux News was greeted by not-so-happy activists who not only yelled obcenities at them, but drenched the cameraman in something that looked like a milkshake! Faux News hightailed it out of there so fast, they were no where to be found! And the report on t.v. that the Faux crew told afterwards was so far from the truth it made my head spin....but that's what they do best! Minutemen Get The Boot!!

On October 4th, Jim Gilchrist and the MinuteKlan organization was set to speak in the Roone Arledge Auditorium at Columbia University in New York. But seeing as the world is beginning to wake up and smell the racism, he was quickly booed, & activists with a banner jumped on stage. Gilchrist's goons were quick to try and rip the banner away, to no avail. The majority of the participants in the auditorium were obviously against the MinuteKlan, and let it be known. Now O'Loofah has his panties all in a bunch over this, claiming it's the 'liberal's' at it again! No, O'Loofah, it's just the American people are beginning to realize that modern day vigilante squads such as the MinuteKlan and S.O.S. are using the American flag to hide behind their racism.

What started 4 months ago as a protest by the people of Oaxaca to demand that crooked Governer Ruiz step down, mainly involving teacher's, has turned into quite a violent & volatile situation.
Many leftist & Indian groups have supported the cause & have joined in with the teacher's, errecting barricades all around the city, & participating in sit-ins. If you are not familiar with the entire situation/story, check out NarcoNews, or check out my previous posts on Oaxaca.
The situation is intensifying, & President Vicente Fox may use force to break up the protests. Not only do the people of Oaxaca need our help, but we need to get this information out. And yes, I am speaking to the countless blogs that have never even whispered one post regarding the situation in Oaxaca! Small bombs went off on Monday at 3 banks in Oaxaca. T.V. stations showed minor damage & graffiti calling on Ruiz to resign, scrawled on the outside of one of the banks.

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jennings

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jennings (1830-1901), a 24 year old school teacher from New York, set out on July 16th, 1854 to go to the First Colored Congregational Church on 6th St. & 2nd Avenue where she played the organ.

Lizzie waited for the bus on the corner of Chatham & Pearl. To get around New York in 1854 often involved having to ride a large horse-drawn carriage for a fee. But for black New Yorkers like Lizzie Jennings, it was not so simple.

Manhattan may have been home to the nation's largest African-American population at the time, but trying to ride the bus with whites was a different story. Some buses had large signs that read " Colored Persons Allowed", while all other buses without signs were governed by an arbitrary system of passenger/conductor choice.

According to journalist Jasmin K. Williams, "Drivers determined who could ride." She added that NYC bus drivers , "carried whips to keep undesirable passengers off." At Jennings church, there was a current movement for public transportation equality with the Rev. J.W.C. Pennington.

On July 16th, 1854, though, Lizzie Jennings decided that she would take the bus without the "Colored Persons Allowed" sign. According to the New York Tribune, she next, " got upon one of the Company's cars...on the Sabbath, to ride to church. The conductor undertook to get her off, first alleging the car was full; when that was shown to be false, he pretended the other passengers were displeased at her presence; but when she insisted on her rights, he took hold of her by force to expel her. She resisted."

Jennings, outraged, told the conductor she was " a respectable person, born and raised in this city." She called the conductor "a good-for-nothing, impudent fellow for insulting decent persons while on their way to church."

The Tribune continues, " The conductor got her down on the platform, jammed her bonnet, soiled her dress and injured her person. Quite a crowd gathered, but she effectually resisted. Finally, after the car had gone on further, with the aid of a policeman they succeeded in removing her."

But what the conductor & the police did not know at the time, was that Jennings was well connected. Her father was quite an important businessman & community leader with ties to two major black churches in the city. Jennings, not satisfied with the huge rally at her church the following day, hired the law firm of Culver, Parker & Arthur & took the Third Avenue Railway Company to court. Her lawyer happened to be Chester A. Arthur, who would go on to become the 21st President upon the death of James A. Garfield in 1881.

In early 1855, Judge William Rockwell of the Brooklyn Circuit Court ruled in Jenning's favor. She claimed $ 500 worth of damages, but some jury members had other ideas as to black people's rights. So, Jennings ended up with $ 225, plus $ 22.50 for court costs. Regardless of this, the very next day, the Third Avenue Railway Company issued an order to admit African-Amercians onto their buses, & by 1860, all of the city's street & rail cars were desegregated.

When MinuteKlan Attack!!

"Minutemen Can't Clown Around" video

On Saturday September 23rd, the Minutemen & S.O.S. members congregated in National City, California (San Diego County), to protest the city's supposed "harboring" of Mexican illegal immigrants.
There was no shortage of opposition protesters, consisting of anti-racism, anti-Minutemen/SOS, & pro-immigration supporters. Among this group was the CIRCA clowns (Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Army-Boredom Patrol sector), fastly growing in popularity for their innovative, creative, & humerous approach to protesting groups such as the Minutemen/SOS.
Dressed as clowns in fatigues, they have implemented the tactic of 'clowing the clowns'. It not only is hilarious, but it's original & actually to the point--even if Minutemen/SOS members fail to "get it"!
I had heard reports that there was an incident where a San Diego Minuteman sprayed CIRCA clown members with pepper spray. So I did a little investigating.
Upon review of SOS's racist website forum, I found that at first SOS members were claiming that it was just water, & that it possibly even came from one of those squirting flowers that clowns wear (even though CIRCA clowns may have not even been wearing those). Other SOS members claimed that the clowns & pro-immigrant protesters "set them up"! But one SOS member had enough brains to discover & watch the video showing the entire incident(s) caught on tape, then actually admit to fellow members that one from their side of the protest did indeed shoot pro-immigrant protesters with pepper spray, unprovoked.
Above is the link to the video of the Minuteman protester, dressed like a biker-dude, wearing a black leather vest, blue jeans, wearing a bandana on his head, spraying pro-immigrant protesters, not once, but twice--without being threatend or assualted. California law states that it is illegal to spray someone with pepper spray if unprovoked, or not in self-defense, & the spray canister must be 2 ounces or less. This man's was clearly more than 2 ounces, plus he used it to assault, not protect himself from one.
The pro-immigrant protesters who were sprayed never assaulted him, nor did they threaten to. It looks as if the man became annoyed with them & sprayed them with pepper spray---TWICE! The man is also seen in the video shaking his yellow canister , getting ready to shoot.
Charges should be brought against this man, identified as Gabriel Pollach, San Diego Minuteman chapter, & I suspect there will be soon!
Here is the video proof. Pay close attention to Mr.Gabriel Pollach, the man with the bandana on his head, black leather vest, blue jeans, & tattoo's on arms. You be the judge. The Minutemen/SOS can say the clowns set them up, can say it was only water, can say it never happened---BUT VIDEO DOES NOT LIE!
Ladies & Gentlemen...Welcome to Minutemen/SOS tactics 101! Come armed to protests & shoot the oppositon in the face with pepper spray when they dont agree with you. These assholes better pray they never spray my loved ones or I at a protest!

Chavez Calls Out Bush At UN

Hugo Chavez, Presidente de Venezuela, made an amazing speech at the UN yesterday, following the Pres. of Iran's equally important speech.
Not only did Chavez hit the nail on the head when describing our President of Incompetence, but managed to pimp Noam Chomsky's great book, Hegemony or Survival:The Imperialist Strategy of the United States, & make some funny one-liners as well!
Chavez said, " The hegemonic pretensions of the American empire are placing at risk the very survival of the human species. We continue to warn you about this danger and we appeal to the People of the United States and the world to halt this threat, which is like a sword hanging over our heads. I had considered reading from this book, but, for the sake of time, I will just leave it as a recommendation."
He also said, " And the devil came here yesterday. Yesterday the devil came here. Right here. (crosses himself) And it smells of sulfur still today."

Israeli Stranglehold On Gaza Causing Humanitarian Crisis

" Though hidden from the headlines, Israel's never-ending war on Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza is continuing to take a terrible toll. Since Israel's assault on Gaza began at the end of June, 262 Palestinians have been killed and some 1,200 wounded.
Israel's blockade on Gaza's borders means that food and other supplies are scarce--at any price. "This is the 10th store I approach to buy a single box of powdered milk for my little baby," Tareq Omar told IRIN News after searching Gaza's Al-Zawiya market for food for his 1 year old. " I don't know what to do. I am ready to pay double price for having only one package, but there is none."
With skyrocketing inflation pushing prices to record levels, few Palestinians can afford to but necessities like milk, even when it can be found--some 85 percent of families in the Gaza strip live below the poverty line.
The devastation of the Palestinian economy is the result of sanctions imposed on the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Israeli goverment's withholding of tax revenue following the victory of militant Islamist group Hamas in January elections. An estimated $100 million in aid has been kept from the PA, and hunreds of thousands of state workers haven't been paid for months.
On September 10, PA President Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah, the rival party to Hamas, announced plans for a "national unity goverment" being negotiated with Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh. Abbas said he hopes that the agreement will encourage Israel and the West to lift sanctions on the PA--and reopen negotiations with Israel.
At the same time, tens of thousands of public-sector employess are on strike over lack of pay. Many believe that Fatah is using the strikes to pressure Hamas into accepting negotiations with Israel.
"Fatah in Nablus sound more concerned with fighting Hamas than in resisiting the Israeli's," journalist Patrick Cockburn wrote in Britain's Independent newspaper. "State schools have almost all closed because of a Fatah-backed strike by teachers demanding their pay. The Hamas goverment cannot meet the teacher's demands since it has no money. '"What is the point of putting pressure on a bankrupt goverment?", asked Abdul Rahman Imran.
A previous announcment of "national unity" came at the end of June, with Hamas leaders agreeing to Fatah's push of Israel--although Hamas leaders asserted that they had not altered their position.
Within days of that announcement, Israeli tanks were rolling into Gaza, with Israel using the capture of an Israeli soldier as an excuse for all-out war. Israeli forces kidmapped dozens of elected officials affiliated with Hamas.
Even after it's failure to defeat Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israel's attempt to crush Hamas has not ended--nor has it's war on ordinary Palestinians. On September 10th, a 14 year old boy was wounded by Israeli fire in Rafah.
As Cockburn wrote a few days earlier, "Gaza has essentially been reoccupied since Israeli troops and tanks come and go at will. In the northern district of Shajhayeh, they took over several houses last week and stayed five days. Byt the time they withdrew, 22 Palestinians had been killed, three houses destroyed, and groves of olives, citrus, and almond trees had been bulldozed."
Meanwhile, on September 4, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert authorized West Bank construction projects for 690 new homes for Israeli settlements--in violation of promises he made to pull out thousands of settlers.
The logic of the US-led "war on terror" means that Israel will always have a reason to declare war on the Palestinians and occupy their land.
Erica Silverman, writing for Al-Ahram Weekly from Gaza, said that the embargo would likely last so long as Hams lawmakers still hold cabinet positions and reject the conditions demanded by the so-called Quartet--the US, European Union, United Nations, and Russia.
"Even if the Hamas-led goverment accepts the Quartet's conditions, Israel will not observe the argreement, and nothing will change," Ahmed Helles, a senior Fatah leader in Gaza, who had 10 family members killed by Israeli forces, told Silverman. "The problem is that Israel thinks they must occupy and control this country." "

On Sunday, 2 men were arrested after assaulting several day laborers at the hiring center in Laguna Beach, California.
Artem Soloviev, 23, & Dennis Kaptilniy, 18, were arrested & booked for suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, & a hate crime, according to Laguna Beach P.D.
People called the police around 9am to report men driving a black Toyota truck through the day labor site. Witnesses reported that the men pulled into the parking lot & solicited a worker to hire. When the worker rejected the terms of the job, he & a friend nearby were assaulted by the 2 men, who broke one of the day laborers nose. The suspects fled the scene, then returned speeding throught the area with their truck. Witnesses had to jump out of the trucks path as the suspects circled the parking lot, striking 2 workers & metal lunch tables & a chain link fence.

The group calling itself the "CIRCA Boredom Patrol" is seen here disrupting the MinuteKlan/S.O.S.'s seige on Home Depot. The racists have been meeting at Home Depots statewide to try & stop day labor workers from getting work to feed their families, or as Bush would say, to "put food on their families"!
Using comedy, the clowns decide that it's time to clown the clowns! Very original & creative, & watching the MinuteKlan/S.O.S.'s reactions is priceless! I also loved how a few of the racists tried to claim that they were some how assaulted by the CIRCA clowns, as the cops looked on. After these ridiculous claims of assault, the cops aren't sure who the real clowns are anymore!! Priceless. Nothing new from the MinuteKlan's side, they always cry wolf similiar to toddlers crying when their sibling hits them, or in this case, dosen't! The MinuteKlan/S.O.S. are a bit pussy-esque, if you ask me.

Racist Twins Move To "More White" Town, But Not Welcome!

Those 14 year old racist twins, Lamb & Lynx of the no-talent singing duo, Prussian Blue, have moved out of their Bakersfield California town because thier mom & them feel it was "not white enough"!!!
First off, you won't find many cities in California, especially Southern California, that are "white enough" for these Hitler-loving, ignorant, racists. The family has instead, decided to move to the state of Montana.
The twins & their family were not greeted with warm welcomes or friendly neighbors with home-cooked brownies in tow. Instead, the concerned neighbors have posted signs in windows that read, "No Hate Here", & have printed information sheets about the new family & have distributed them around the neighborhood.
The twins & their family have not been seen much, refusing to answer the phone or door for media,etc. But reports are that they have called police to complain about the flyers being passed out about them.
On the racist websites from Stormfront & Libertyforum, racist members have posted pictures & names of some of the neighbors involved in distrubuting the flyers, frightening them.
Maybe there's a double-wide opening up soon in some backwoods area of the deep south for this racist family to live color-free! Or maybe someone could sponsor them in their home for awhile, you know, just until they find a place "white" enough......Any volunteers????

After reading a great post over at Para Justicia y Libertad! about the goverment testing of their newest "non-lethal" weapon on American citizens, I decided to do some research on this.
The new secret weapon, affectionately called, the "People Zapper", is said to be the Marine's biggest breakthrough in weapons technology since the atomic bomb. The "People Zapper", A.K.A., the Vehicle-Mounted Active Denial System (VMADS), is a "non-lethal" weapon that fires directed energy into a beam of micromillimeter waves. "The energy, which is like microwaves, causes the moisture in a person's skin to heat up rapidly, creating a burning sensation similiar to a hot light bulb pressed against one's flesh."
Mmmmm, toasted human flesh, served up by the goverment chefs!
Goverment official plans include mounting the "People Zapper" on top of a Humvee, & have even suggested a 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'-model, to mount onto aircraft!
The "possible applications" include, CROWD CONTROL, perimeter defense, & disruption of "enemy activities". The weapon's range still remains classified, but project officials expect that it's range will exceed 750 meters!
Whoever is using this weapon could easily engage a crowd from far. When the beam is waved over a group, people would immediatley experience hard-core pain, causing confusion & driving the crowd to disperse. But if it causes "confusion", how is one to "disperse" if confused & in pain??
It is still undetermined whether or not this weapon poses long-term health risks, because the goverment, of course, has not released this information. Personally, I cant see how being zapped, cooked, & burned by microwaves could NOT have long-term health risks!The "People Zapper" can pass throuhg clothing, by the way.
The human body begins to feel pain at about 113 degrees Fahrenheit, around the temperature of a hot light bulb. The VMAD's system could heat a "targets" skin up to about 130 degrees Fahrenheit in around 2 seconds!!
The health threat varies according to body type & length of exposure. So a 105 pound little shit like me might have the same effects as putting foil into a microwave!! Great, so I guess I'll be on the look-out for the "People Zapper" at the next rally or protest!
And for all you concerned with how much this weapon (that might be used on you at the next anti-war rally) costs: The Defense Department has spent nearly $ 40 Million over 10 years developing this, & budget predictions show another $ 26 Million could be needed over the next 5 years or so!
God, you know how many people that could feed & house? You know how many Hurricane Katrina victims could benefit from that kind of money?
But nooo, the United States goverment would much rather stick it's dirty money into combating dissent among it's citizens! Add another tactic to the goverments sponsored rape & desecration of our Constitution, that already includes surveillance, censorship, & detention.
